I think it would be a complete waste of a headliner slot, almost as bad as Ben Harper or Kings of Leon. I'd be headed back to the campground early that day if there wasn't anything going on at other stages. I was going to post something about how you should expect to have a shitty headliner like that every year but the last few years have been shockingly absent of someone that bad. The closest we've come is Death Cab and they're hometown heroes so it makes more sense.

Hopefully Sasquatch has just turned the corner and will continually put out solid lineups year after year. If there's anyone shitty this year it would most likely be Phoenix or Mumford, and unfortunately either of them (or horrifically both of them) are entirely possible.

I wouldn't mind Pheonix headlining. They seem like they'd be fun live. I'd rather that they didn't though.

If you enter a thunder closet high on mushrooms after drinking a 1/2 bottle of absinthe and you improperly shoot your stream into the gray funnel (aka back splash)----you might be seeing Purple Rain. THANK YOU! that's all the proof I needed, confirmed!

I hadn't even thought about My Bloody Valentine as a possible headliner. They're definitely a band that's always slipped under my radar mostly due to not having any new material since I was 7 years old back in 1991. This new record of theirs is brilliant.
edit: I just noticed they're playing at El Corazon in Seattle next week, and that's a pretty small venue with a capacity nowhere near what previous Sasquatch headliners or even sub-headliners normally play to. Maybe a Bigfoot headlining slot?

They would probably headline the bigfoot, much like spritiualized did last year, if they are on the bill...

Yeah I'm digging it quite a bit. I'm holding out hope that they'll be on the lineup. As far as shitliner is concerned, I think Mumford is the probable reality of that scenario. And there seems to be a contingent here that don't like 'em but can appreciate their live show, so if what they say is true, I wouldn't really consider their appearance the worst possible outcome. I'm still amazed Pheonix are headlining Saturday night at Coachella by themselves. I knew they were popular but really...that popular?

I don't understand how Phoenix has supposedly grown that much. They're really not that good. My dislike for Mumford comes from their songs being seriously overplayed on local radio, they very well could come to Sasquatch and prove me wrong and be a quality headliner. I just don't WANT them to be one.

Maybe a Bigfoot headlining slot? Dude. I am about to go Gang Warily on yo' ass. My Bloody Valentine are not playing at El Corazon next week. The Bloody Valentine, also known as 'a few shitty djs', are. I Dr. Garbanzoured this out while sleeping.

The last time MBV were in Seattle they played at Wamu Theater which is the type of venue that you would expect a headliner to play at. They would certainly not play on the Wookie. The problem is (as Wonk has argued a number of times) that they're probably not the best fit for Sasquatch. It would be unbelievably amazing for 1/4 of the attendees but the worst thing the rest of the audience has ever seen. They tend to end their show with a 30 minute noise rock freak out that is basically unlistenable without earplugs. I'd still love to see them their but Snacks tends to book headliners with broader appeal than that. I'm still pulling for them anyway.

damnit...Bjorrito beat me by enough to show how terrible I am at using html on this website...
On another note, I don't get how Phoenix is as big as they are either but they were essentially this big when they toured a few years back so this isn't a surprise. They sold out Madison Square Garden and had Daft Punk show up as special guests. Listomania and 1901 used to be played on Alt radio as much as Mumford gets played now. The only difference is that Mumford appeals to all demographics (well, Pop and Adult Alternative at least) and have sold a ton more records. Those markets don't matter at Sasquatch or Coachella so the size difference isn't nearly as big as it seems.

That's what a quick google search provided me with, I didn't go to the actual band's website. It seemed wrong to me but I just went with it for some reason. I'll take that as a lesson to confirm before posting.

In that case, they could definitely headline the Sasquatch stage. Jack White played WAMU after Sasquatch last year. I'm gonna guess they won't headline though, you're exactly right that the majority of the crowd wouldn't be into them. That just makes me think again they'd be Bigfoot headliners.
