Nick Cave just announced dates with Sharon Van Etten opening. No west coast shows and tour goes through April. What does it mean?
Also (thanks Pitchfork) Arcade Fire recently showcased some new chunes. Considering they last appeared as a subheadliner in 2007, I could easily see them returning as one of "the" headliners.
As nice as it would be for Arcade Fire to be there, they wont be. When they headlined ACL last year they said it would be there last show for 3-4 years.
Things change. Who knows, maybe they'll be touring sooner than they anticipated. Maybe this new album will be coming out sooner than expected. I think this secret show might be a good indication that they'll be playing at least a few shows sooner than that timeframe they gave at ACL.
I always hear/read people talk about it like it is some sort of modern classic
Well, there's your first clue. It is mindless, overproduced radio trash. Like, people have 'Lisztomania' in their ichunes alongside a bunch of fucking Beyonce and and Justin Timberlake and then they will go on about how they 'listen to everything' kind of shit.
