Fuck me, and I was just wondering the other day if Thurston Moore was doing anything these days.

Isn't that like saying, "this is better than anything MC Hammer has done in nearly a decade?"

Yeah, it must be a really tough life when you're in your third decade as a band and all you can release is a great album (Sonic Nurse), a good album (Rather Ripped), and a decent one (The Eternal).

Hey man I liked Murray Street a lot too. Great album, I just didn't include it cause it came out in 2002 and is just over a decade old. I really liked the direction Sonic Youth were headed with Murray Street and Sonic Nurse but kind of was let down by the two that followed. Murray Street and Sonic Nurse showed how they could age gracefully by mellowing a bit. The Eternal has some good moments on it but it just feels like the band pretending to be something they're not anymore. As sad as I am that the band broke up (or whatever they're calling this whole thing), it appears like it's going to work out creatively for everyone involved.

I keep forgetting that 2000 was 13 years ago. Dang.

I'm really enjoying this How to Destroy Angels full length a lot. While it's a completely different animal than NIN, it's definitely my favorite piece of work Trent has released since The Fragile. I haven't been able to get into anything he's put out in the 2000s, so I'm actually really happy he's concentrating on this project right now. It has a lot of Massive Attack vibes happening throughout it, so give it a shot if that's your bag. I am stupidly excited for their Coachella set.

He is an amazing musician. I damn near grabbed a free copy of this album last night, but I couldn't bring my self to do it. I have too much respect for him as an artist to do that. I am pretty bummed they haven't announced any more live performances. Coachella just isn't an option for me right now.

Side projects of artists I really love usually annoy the piss out of me, but I almost prefer having HtDA and Puscifer at Coachella over NIN and Tool. Well, maybe not Tool, but both projects are outstanding and at least at this point HtDA is a very rare "get" for anybody. Isn't Coachella going to be their first live appearance ever?

Isn't Coachella going to be their first live appearance ever? Yep, and their only scheduled live appearance to date.

I am ridiculously jealous of y'all for both of these artists/projects. I've loved Puscifer since their weird-ass song on the Underworld soundtrack and have never had the opportunity to see them.

YES
Best news of the day. I feel vaguely like the National's profile has been on the rise, slowly but surely, since High Violet. Any chance this album will propel them to the next level? Like, future Sasquatch-headliner level?
