God damnit. Let's figure this out. I'll start.
The Cure My Bloody Valentine
Surely everyone likes one or both of them...right?

Board suicide:
I could take or leave Bowie and Zappa. However, only because I haven't spent much time with either.

Originally I was going to throw CCR into the mix. I really don't see how anyone couldn't love their music.

Bowie is probably a solid guess, are there people that don't like Pink Floyd round these parts?
Edit: Didn't see Pea's comment. Is not knowing much about a band the same as not liking them? I guess we're going for bands we all like though, not ones we all don't dislike.

I originally proposed "thinks is the shit" as the phrase in question. I think we should be looking for a band that we all really like (have spent time with and very much enjoy listening to). So if anyone hasn't listened to/is indifferent to a band, they're out.

JK, I don't mind My Bloody Valentine; although I lost my copy of Loveless five years ago and I never bothered to pick it up again.
I fucking hate Creedence. Sorry.

Board suicide: I could take or leave Bowie and Zappa. However, only because I haven't spent much time with either. Go listen to Heroes right now. And as much as I love Zappa, I can see why a lot of people wouldn't dig him. Bowie just appeals to everyone in general.

First we need a list of bands HG likes that we have all heard of before we can continue.

Anyone have a particular aversion to Talking Heads? If so, I give up.

We've been over that one in the 'Bands we haven't really listened to' thread.
More of us need to be shamed into listening to them before we can pass judgement.

If you don't like the Beatles, then all I can say is that you need to listen to the fucking Beatles more. Allow me to slip into Classic HG Mode for five fucking seconds and just say it: if you don't like the Beatles, you're wrong. If you listen to any band that writes songs with verses, choruses and a bridge then you owe six months to the Beatles so just do it.
