Identify those 7-10 seconds of fretwork that elevate a good song to greatness!

I don't really understand what's happening here. Are we supposed to identify a specific riff or are we just saying, "Yea somewhere in this song I love a particular riff. You figure it out."

Nah, we're talking about, like, the lead riff in a song. Easily identifiable, usually right up front; the one part that a really drunk dude would remember if he couldn't remember any of the words. The three songs listed above are good examples.

For years I've considered this to be one of the absolute best opening riffs ever. Even if metal isn't your thing, you have to admit it gets you pumped up!

I can rarely remember these types of things but if I'm doing this right, my favourite is...
Commotion - CCR

I think the entire CCR catalog qualifies.
My favourite is The Beatles - 'Let It Be' (Paul McCartney)

Definitely 'Dystopian Dream Girl'. This is why this is one of my 3 favorite songs of all time.

Even though this song is 6 minutes of the same riff, I find myself constantly playing it over and over. This riff is my life.

Now you got me hooked on that riff again.
My favorite riff of 2012 comes from the chorus of:
Deerhoof - Fête d'Adieu (John Dieterich/Ed Rodriguez (they're both playing the same riff and it's fucking awesome))
