Upon first listen, I enjoyed the back half of the record significantly more then the first half. Specifically, Listening Wind and The Overload. Is there more of these darker Heads?

'Listening Wind' is fucking amazing, isn't it?
There's some more stuff like that on Fear of Music (my personal favorite Talking heads record). There's also some kind of sinister stuff on Speaking in Tongues, like 'Swamp', but it's a little more skippy.

I haven't really dug into Talking Heads catalog, but I know I have always enjoyed their earlier stuff, but not much else.

I do too, although I couldn't identify a single Smiths song. I hate them on principle. Elvis/Beatles Ween/Sonic Youth Smiths/Cure ...you're one kind of dude or you're the other. Never really thought about any of these bands in this fashion before, but I get where you're coming from. I like Sonic Youth and Ween about the same though. For me when it comes to those two bands, when they're good they're great, but when they're off...NO THANKS.

Elvis/Beatles - Elvis. I fucking love Elvis. I don't really like this comparison though. Beatles are cool by me. Sonic Youth/Ween - Sonic Youth. Can't get into Ween at all. Smiths/Cure - MUTHAFUCKIN CUUUUURE DURRRRR

Another, potentially clearer division might be between Beatles people and Stones people.
Either way, I'm with the Beatles.
We've discussed this before, but in my experience the Ween/Sonic Youth division holds true roughly 90% of the time. It comes down to the question that plagued Zappa throughout his entire career: Does humor belong in music? Of course there will always be people like Geno who can get on board with both, but most people will feel strongly one way or the other.
Unfortunately for Ween, the standard ace in the hole that could always be used to convince the non-believer -- a live performance by Ween -- is no longer to be had. You'd never know what Ween really sounds like unless you watched them play for a couple hours.

What I love so much about Sigur Ros is there ability to make such simple and elegant music like this:
As well as some of the most powerful, moving, and bone-chilling music on earth. Such as this (watch from 11 minutes onward. FUCKING DO IT):

This is exactly why bands like Ween, They Might Be Giants, The Aquabats, and even Dethklok just don't click with me. I hate sounding like I don't like humor, because I absolutely do, but for some reason I've just never really gotten into goofy music.

Stones vs. Beatles = THE ROLLING FUCKING STONES!
The Beatles are great but The Stones hold the rock n' roll gauntlet for me.

I always remember Best Buy selling one of their CDs for $2.99 for the longest time, but never looked into them. I'll check em out!

If you say that about They Might Be Giants I think it is because you haven't heard much beyond, like, Istanbul and Particle Man.

They're not a joke band, but there is definitely a massive amount of humor and silliness in their music.
In other words, you're not going to sell Pea on They Might Be Giants.

Dude my bad. I never meant to imply they were a joke band. I have massive respect for all of the bands I mentioned. They just aren't really my thing.
