I didn't even know that existed! Good to know for when it inevitably stops letting me use the ones I use all the time, like "I" and " "

So, I think life has decided to start a new tradition for me: one week before a music festival my dog will need to get emergency surgery that will eat up my entire savings (and plus some this time). Same issue as last time, so she'll be fine, I just have no idea how I'm gonna pay for it this time since I haven't yet fully recovered financially from the last one, or Coachella spending, or being on medical leave. It's like every time I'm almost back on my feet money-wise, life decides to say "fuck that" and throw something at me that knocks me back down again. Why ya gotta be like that, life?

My laptop that I spent SO much money on (spoiler alert, I spent very little money on it) has decided to only intermittently let me use like half of the keys. I just had to wikipedia "Ninja Turtles" so I could copy and paste a "z" from pizza. I love that this was how you chose to find the letter z.

The fact that some people think it's okay to use the word gay as a derogatory term, I.e., "how gay". If you use the word gay in that manner, go fuck yourself. Anyway, there's one less dickhead getting a ride to sasquatch next week... That should actually go in the what made me smile thread.

My Fargo inspired nightmare last night was both hilarious and incredibly anxiety-inducing.

My nightmare last night was inspired by the Jon Lovitz/Jeffery Jones sci-fi comedy Mom & Dad Save the World. It was a doozy, too.

Finally got ourselves signed up for that Obamacare business; got our cards in the mail, all that. Thought: sweet. Now the plethora of prescriptions that we require will not be prohibitively expensive.
But no. Not. It doesn't cover my adderall, which is not half as surprising as the fact that it doesn't even cover Stormy's fucking albuterol inhaler. What the fuck kind of insurance prescription plan doesn't cover fucking albuterol? What the fuck DOES it cover? Fuck.

You can thank Republicans and the spineleas Democrats in DC for that one. The ACA was just another corporate subsidy. Single-payer system or bust. Also fuck Phas 3 FDA testing which drives medication expenses through the roof.
Bernie Sanders 2016

And I'm not 100% sure but I think Macklemore had something to do with this.

It's a disgrace that Americans of all classes can't get equitable health care. Pitchforks and torches may soon be needed.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't Obamacare similar to Alberta Health Care in that it covers trips to the hospital and doctors (broken bones, lacerations, gun shots ect.), whereas your employer benefits cover things like prescription corn chips?

Pardon MY ignorance if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be comprehensive. People (that I know of) don't carry different types of insurance for emergencies and regular things like prescriptions.

Pardon MY ignorance if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be comprehensive. People (that I know of) don't carry different types of insurance for emergencies and regular things like prescriptions. HEY, wasn't trying to be a dick about it. Just asking a question. The way that it works for me is that I have Alberta Health Care, so if if I break a fucking bone or get into a car accident I don't go into debt to have my hospital bills taken care of. Then we have separate coverage, through our employers (if offered), for items such as prescription corn chips and dental. I figured this question would rile some feathers, but really, I am curious to know how it all works.

I genuinely wasn't trying to sound upset about that! I was just saying that I don't fully know how it works since I'm not personally using it. 'Twas a simple misunderstanding!

Also it's interesting to hear how that works up there, I had no idea it was different. Canadians really are weird.

Cool. Like I said, I'm not sure how it works for you cats down south, so was just curious.
My brother, who lives in Calgary, has full coverage for hospital trips and emergency coverage through the government, but no coverage at all for prescription drugs required for the dehabilitating migraines that he gets because the company that he works for doesn't provide benefits for this type of medication. He pays almost $200/month for that shit.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you were on Obamacare and wanted to start using insurance through your job or whatever, you'd typically drop the Obamacare because it is made redundant by the new insurance. When I was unemployed they wanted to charge me $118/month for Obamacare, so it isn't much of a free service though.
