Speaking of parking tickets, I got an incredibly stupid one yesterday. The street I park on by my house has parking on both sides, and the driving space in between them is just wide enough for one car to pass through. To be clear, there's no center line dividing lanes or anything like that. I park on that street almost every day.
Yesterday I got a $50 parking ticket for parking on a street facing the wrong direction, because I parked on the left side of this narrow residential street instead of the right. What the hell kind of stupid rule is that? What possible harm could come from me parking there? There were several other cars right next to mine who were doing the same thing and it happens every single day all up and down the streets in this neighborhood.
Super lame.

That's always been a ticket-worthy offence as far as I know but I seldom see any city enforce it on any non-arterial street.

Yeah, I've vaguely known it was ticketable before I got the ticket, it just seemed so unlikely that they would feel the need to ticket me for parking on a half empty residential street. The guy must've been really bored or something.

He was probably kicking so many rocks that day, that he wrote you the ticket.

My work still has yet to pay me my full paycheck due to an accounting error (we're talking the majority of my paycheck) even though they went out on the 30th. Now I love my job, and I get that it is a small, understaffed organization but this is fucking ridiculous. I gotta pay bills. And buy beer.

My girlfriend is having a really hard time finding a job and she's getting pretty depressed about it. Nothing I can say or do helps her at all and it really sucks to see her feeling like that. She's having 1-2 interviews per week and every time she finds out she didn't get the job she goes into this deep hole of self doubt and bad feelings. I don't have any money so I can't go out and treat her to something or try to cheer her up so I just sit here feeling bad that I can't help.

Job hunting sucks man. Best advice I can offer is that interviewers are going to pick up on her uncertainty and self doubt so she needs to go into these things 100% believing she is the best candidate for the position and they will hopefully find themselves agreeing with her. Best of luck to your lady.

Yikes, the last time I offered words of encouragement here to a job seeker, the reply was basically, "I'm looking for sympathy, not advice."

She's very put together and professional in interviews, she's just been getting unlucky with the selections. I definitely won't get mad at someone for offering advice though, what else would I expect from a forum like this? It's just nice to have people to talk to about problems instead of letting it fester. I know she'll find something sooner or later, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

To help make it better I made homemade pizza (her favorite) and we're watching Game Of Thrones and drinking some beers. That's a surefire way to lift her spirits!

My girlfriend had a similar experience a year and a half ago. It was awful and I felt helpless. Nothing worse than that uncertainty, especially when you're in a position where you HAVE to work at some point.
Hashtag commiseration.

Went out today and bought a nice big cooler to hold all my supplies for Sasquatch, only to find that I overestimated the size of my trunk and it won't fit. This changes everything.

That sucks man, I feel your pain.
I know I'm going to be going through the same thing sometime in the next few years. My girlfriend and I adopted a 10-11 year old dog last year and while she's still healthy and spry, dogs only have so much time. Better to give them a good life when they're still doing well and be happy that they got to live with people they loved.
