HOLY SHIT! This didn't really make me "kick rocks" but I don't want these assholes around my neighborhood AND my adrenaline is through the roof!!!
We were just walking our dog, like about 5 minutes ago, and as we were cutting through a gas station parking lot in a very populated commercial area an expensive looking truck drove down the road at speeds beyond safety and entered the parking lot in an exit only off ramp, nearly hitting other vehicles. As we freaked out about this jerks dangerous driving within 20 feet of us, another vehicle then boxed the first vehicle in as it flew through the parking lot cutting the truck off at the proper entrance. The break squealing noises were coming from every direction. The original truck then tried to back up and get away but a 2nd and 3rd vehicle entered the parking lot the same way he did so the driver and passenger got out of their truck and tried to run but were stopped dead in their tracks as they ,and I, saw the men in the vehicles draw their guns while screaming the words "stop or I'll shoot!" I immediately grabbed my girlfriend and crossed the road in the furthest direction possible while shouting "go, he's got a gun" and once at a safe distance we realized we had just witnessed a drug bust. The offenders dropped to the ground and I stared at the scene realizing this is the first time I have ever scene someone pull a real gun on another person in real life. It was fucking CRAZY!!! The police were in their undercover clothes and when they pulled their guns we still had not Dr. Garbanzoured out they were cops yet so it was a super intense situation. There are now 6 cop cars and a shit load of drug dogs there and when we walked by again (on our way home) the drug dogs started barking at my dog. Asshole dogs. We ain't got no drugs dummy.

Got on Greyhound at 9 last night...got off 10 minutes later because Snoqualmie Pass was closed and they weren't running any eastbound buses for another 14+ hours. I couldn't bring myself to drop such a significant amount of money for any less than three days in Boise.

My 87 and 93 year old grandparents were scammed out of $5,000 by someone claiming to be me and in need of money to bail them out of jail in Maryland. I seriously fucking hate the human race right now.

Seriously? That's terrible. There is almost nothing worse in the world than people who take advantage of old folks. I'm sick about that, I'm sorry hon.

Some drunk asshole hit and run my car in broad daylight. The whole back end is fucked beyond belief.
On the flip side, some good Samaritan followed the drunk guy home, took pictures of all the damage and even demanded that he hand over his driver's license for evidence. Then he drove back to the scene of the crime to wait for me to come outside so he could give me all the pictures and everything for the cops. Sometimes people are great.

Maybe that actually belongs in the other thread. Also, so so so sorry about your grandparents, Pea. You know I don't take elder abuse lightly.

This Roger Ebert thing is really kind of breaking me up. When we look back in fifty years, this man's impact on culture and thought will be one of the standards in the ground. And the amazing thing is the class and kindness he demonstrated the whole damn time. He was a living example of the ideal of "good faith."

I'm right there with you, drew. He was a good man, and a tremendous intellect. I used to have half a shelf of books he'd written (still do, somewhere; probably at my ma's house). One of my personal renaissance periods involved reading The Great Movies and watching all of the films he wrote about in it.
The way that I write about music was heavily influenced by the way that Ebert wrote about film. When he loved something, he was absolutely effusive; he was not afraid of sounding hyperbolic, and he was never apologetic. When he hated something, he could be just absolutely virulent -- and it was always a thing to behold.
Losing Roger Ebert is a real blow to the soul. Who the hell do we have left? Leonard Maltin? Peter Travers? Michael fucking Medved? Oi.
Eulogizing celebrities on the internet can be so fucking precarious; everyone has something to say about a person all at once, and it can be a terrible feeling to throw your feelings of loss into the pool when someone who really meant something to you goes and it just inevitably ends up sounding disingenuous. I feel that way today.

Exactly. I felt like a chump posting ineloquent dribble on facebook not worthy of Ebert, but I couldn't not say anything either.

I get that its a wonderful problem to have, but I feel like garbage after essentially breaking up with the other program and prof. On a more positive note, I've officially accepted my offer of admission at the school in Montreal. Time to learn french!

I got a text from my phone company (Telus) that they are going to start charging me 40c a message to text American numbers.
I also got told that I have to write a letter to my boss's boss's boss to get my festival time off this year. I'm not really sure what to say. 'Please let me go so I can come back and do shitty work for 2 weeks afterwards!'

Found out I owe $450 in parking violations. Weeeeeooooo. Sucks because I get them because of the parking system at work, where we are expected to street park then move our cars every two hours. And we have to have our cars at work since I visit clients in the community all day long. Boourns.
