Cabbage Hill and Deadman's Pass went from no roadside snow to 20" in like 36 hours. I'm hoping the roads are driveable by Thursday morning or else I may not make it for Gramma's b-day

They might have lost, but everything after the power outage was pretty amazing.

Our PC decided to take a massive shit today, and we can't seem to access the hard drive to find a restore point or, you know, load the fucking thing. Anyone know anything about data recovery from corrupted hard drives?

Anyone know anything about data recovery from corrupted hard drives? If the harddrive hasn't failed you can pull it out and slave it to another computer which will allow you to access your files. You can get usb devices that allow you to connect an internal harddrive to another machine like it is an external harddrive. This is what I would do if I was unable to access the OS at all. You can run a windows disk and try to repair the OS too.

All of the other computers in this house are unibody macbooks! I'll take a look around for something like you mentioned. Thanks!

Ended up switching the SATA port that the HD was connected to on the motherboard and it booted up fine. Now I'm just backing up all the shit that wasn't already backed up and trying to figure out what the hell happened.

I had my Bose computer speakers at a RIDICULOUSLY reasonable level earlier tonight, and within a minute the fucking cunt lady that lives above me stomped on her floor as hard as possible and screamed, "TURN THAT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!" Mind you, this is my second full day in this apartment and I haven't even so much as made a single peep yet or even met her. Fuuuuuuuck that.

My mind skipped over the 'reasonable' part of that sentence and was totally on her side for a second.

No, dude. The first thing I noticed when moving in here was how thin the ceilings were, so I've made damn sure to be as respectful as possible. I mean, I could hear what the news anchor was saying from her fucking TV when I got home from work today. It's ridiculous. If she could feel the bass from my speakers, then by all means I'll turn them off, but to stomp on the fucking floor and scream at me from her apartment just put her on my major shit list. When did people stop knocking on your door and politely ask you to turn your music down?

The worst part is, I'm already pretty sure I'll be looking for another place to live as soon as this six month lease is over.

That blows. Moving sucks and getting into that situation where you feel uncomfortable in your own house all the time is just a terrible feeling.
