I live on the wrong side of the state and will not be going to Kraftwerk or Fuck Buttons. Or any of the rescheduled Julysquatch performances, for that matter. There are not enough rocks for me to kick this week.

No Robyn. No Kraftwerk. No Steely Dan. (But I do get to see Fuck Buttons tomorrow so that is cool.)

The shock has worn off, and I am now entering the pain & guilt stage of no more Death Grips.

The shock has worn off, and I am now entering the pain & guilt stage of no more Death Grips. Don't worry. Once the shock of Death Grips no longer canceling shows wears off, they will reunite and cancel even more shows.

I've lost my interest in music.
This has happened before when I've gone on medication, and seems to be one of the few indicators that the pills are actually doing something. Music just holds no interest in my life anymore. I never listen to any at home (I even misplaced my ipod, not having used it since October, I think?). One day a few weeks ago, I turned the radio off while driving. I drive in silence now. That used to bother me so much, and now, when my mom tried to turn it back on the other day, I just found the noise grating. Noise - is that all music has become for me?
I've tried to listen to some tracks posted in the upcoming albums thread and I can't even make it through to the end of each. Reading through speculation and rumours, not a single name mentioned gets that part inside of me revving like before. There's no spark. I went to a musical the other day and I realized I was that person who just sits there still, not tapping toes or moving along in any way. I used to say I didn't trust people that didn't move in some way when music was playing. That those people didn't have a soul. Is that what I've become? Honestly, it does kinda feel like something is missing, like I'm a bit emptier in there.
It's strange, it seems like such an antithesis to what you would think the medication is supposed to do. It's supposed to lift me up, out of darkness, yet that seems to be coming at a cost that keeps me from appreciating the parts that make the 'light' so wonderful. At least unmedicated, whether up or down, I could find solace or joy in music. Really, it all just feels so flat now.

I've lost my interest in music. This is easily one of the saddest things I've read in awhile. I have had some similar responses to some medication prescribed to me for pain relief over the years - it always makes me feel dulled out rather than pain free. There have also been some times when for various reasons I didn't listen to much music at all - radio didn't work, Ipods not invented yet, damn kids listening to that rap stuff, etc., etc. Thanks goodness I am currently un-medicated except for some natural home grown herbal remedies, and I also found my way back to musicalfullness (is that a word?) a few years ago when I got my first ipod thingy. My first festival followed from that, and here I am now part of a virtual music geekdom neighborhood. Anyway, you made me sad - I hope you find your own path back to full musical, spiritual, mental, and physical health. I can't offer any good advice, except maybe to cue up a little Beatles. A little help from my friends goes a long way.

Down by 4 with 30 seconds to play, 2nd and goal on the half yard line with the best power running back in the game and they decide to throw the ball into the middle of the defense. What the fuck?

And now: what happens this offseason? Can the Seahawks maintain the talent on their roster or has their window just closed? Really hoping they can pull it off another season though, I will be in Seattle next year around super bowl time and would love to watch it with friends and family from Seattle.

My biggest worry now is Marshawn retiring out of spite over getting fucked over so incredibly hard on that last play. He seemed pretty cool about it after the game. "It's a team sport" and all that, but that sort of call is the kind of thing that can undermine the team's confidence in the coaching staff and that can cause long term damage. Our entire team philosophy has been built around "In Pete we trust". All the questionable calls, draft picks, etc have been accepted because they worked. But to have a call fail so dramatically at such a critical point will be felt for a long time to come.
