Hahaha that dump is always the go-to "fuck fuck fuck we aren't selling enough tickets!" venue. It's kind of a neat warehouse, but I've been finding myself more and more annoyed with it lately. Thank god the one time the sound somehow managed to be top-notch was when I saw Jonsi there. I really love that Hooverville bar across the street, though. Great place to prefunk during all ages shows while the kiddies are all standing in line to get in.

I saw that Jonsi show, and gotta say I was fairly disappointed as per usual in that humid shithole of a venue.

Really? I must have found a pretty killer spot or something. Everything about that show was perfect to me. Definitely in my top 5 of all time.

Sucks that we saw that show together before we knew each other, and now that we know each other we're going to separate Sigur Ros shows.

Although the sets will be exactly the same, and the fig party shall be glorious.

Is that a different venue than the Showbox downtown?

Much, much different venue. The historic Showbox Market, which you are referring too, is far superior to the somewhat recently purchased Showbox Shithole.

Sound, visibility, location, staff, sweat-not-dripping-from-the-ceiling, restroom smokability, bar location: all far superior.

So there was a minor explosion/fire in a downtown building of a major communications company here in Calgary. It has esssentially fucked with everything. My work systems are down (email, scheduling, etc) and I was supposed to go fishin with Megatron today, but we can't buy a license because the systems are down for that as well.
NOT FUCKING COOL EXPLODING SHAW BUILDING!

It also knocked out ATB Online banking, everything related to AB Registry, and a handful of other systems. Pretty intense.

Haha, all of my clients are in Alberta. No wonder it's so damn slow today.

You're in telecom, right? I think I remember reading that way back in the day. Telus? Bell? Shaw? Rogers?

Its been so bloody hot at night and doesn't cool off in my room until around 3 or 4am. So its impossible to sleep until then. I feel like garbage. (Yeah, I'm sure the excessive alcohol consumption didn't necessarily help either).
I want a cold bath and a nap. Followed by more beer. And then some music and dancing. Wooo.

So my dad divorced my mom last fall and is getting re-married this weekend to someone that he has been dating for all of two months. I have to go down to Shitlick, California and tape a fake smile to my jowls for exactly as long as it takes for them to say their vows and cut the wedding pizza (yes, correct -- wedding pizza).
Meanwhile, my mother -- whose entire life has been dismantled by my father's ultra-gregarious midlife crisis -- is simultaneous dealing with the emotional fallout of the wedding debacle, a pre-planned business trip to Boston, and the fact that the (very nice) gentleman that she has been seeing had a series of minor heart attacks this week and is in the hospital.
My family is all super-Mormon and doesn't drink, so that particular coping mechanism is off the table. Fortunately this part of California has a wealth of rocks to kick.

I feel for ya man. Parents getting remarried is the weirdest fucking thing on earth. Awkward and unpleasant doesn't even begin to explain my experience at my dad's wedding.
