One of my favorite parts of 2017 was finally falling in love with vinyl. I attempted starting a collection years ago but was just never in the right logistical position to own records. Now that I'm married and mostly settled down (+1 for my wife owning a turntable) it all just makes sense. I love owning music and always have, but growing up in the era of CDs I just never had a good reason to buy vinyl instead. I finally get the excitement of record store day and special reisssues (that Loveless reissue next week is going to be sexy as fuck) and find myself more enthusiastic about going out and buying physical copies of music than I have in probably 15 years.
Anyway, here are some of my acquirements from the latter half of the year:
EXEYE - EXEYE Tool - Lateralus (Picture disc) Igorrr - Savage Sinusoid (Pale blue marble vinyl) Radiohead - The Bends Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days Sigur Ros - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust Sigur Ros - () Behemoth - Zos Kia Cultus Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance Converge - The Dusk in Us Cryptopsy - Blaspemy Made Flesh The Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works (Clear blue vinyl) The National - Boxer (Clear neon green vinyl) Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion American Football - LP2

I've had it in my hands a few of my last trips to the record shop. It's only a matter of time.

Sigur Ros - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust The only Sigur Ros record I don’t own yet. Sitting by the fireplace with bowl of nice weed, a glass of red wine, and Sigur Ros on the turntable is about as close to heaven as I’ve come without leaving the house.

This is the first Friday since early December that I haven't had any plans or anything to do on Saturday morning, so I parked my happy ass on the couch with some nice beers and (), with Med Sud up next. It's pretty perfect.

Yesterday I went down to Vinyl Dreams in SF to pick up a new release from Whiskey Disco and walked out 2 hours later with 7 records. That place is awesome for dance music and the owners are super cool
Various Artists - Disco Tropico (thicc funk/disco re-edits, one particularly dope edit of a Jorge Ben track) Kurt Lykes - Yes Lord (sick gospel house with a Glenn Underground mix) Blue Soul - Sinister Ana (low tempo acid house) Fernando Pulichino - Search of Indigo EP (105 bpm chugging balaeric vibes) Santa Sangre - Santa Sangre (crazy new tribal house release from SF, can't find any info on it online?) Brooke Russell - So Sweet (reggae pop I think, mostly got this for the instrumental and acapella on the B side)
And a bootleg white label containing a mashup of an old Bob Sinclar track vs a Room 5 track
Also have these ones coming in the mail:
ICE - Reality 7" DJ Slyngshot - New Era Hotmood - Hotmood Vol. 1 Tugboat Edits - TVLKING HEVDITS
