There is a post on the Coachella FB page that says Daft Punk is confirmed. Doubt it but its fun to speculate.

However, to feed into the perpetual speculation, whoever runs Goldenvoice's Instagram account went on a "liking" spree of Daft Punk pictures the other day, including one of the supposed new album cover. So like, whatever.

If anyone knew anything, it would be everywhere. When there IS news, it will come out of the blue from Daft Punk themselves.

Yea, I wouldn't expect any news from the organizer themselves, but they might know some advance information that will be coming directly from the source soon. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLLLLLEEEEE

And I'm not implying/assuming any of this has to do with Coachella. I'm just following up on the convo from earlier.

It seems like there's one headliner every year that's just a guarantee and everyone knows it. Radiohead last year, Arcade Fire, The Killers...Daft Punk is this year's guarantee. I will be shocked if they don't headline.

Hahaha. I love the Smiths, but Morrissey is such a douchebag.

I can't imagine this ever actually happening, but let's say Coachella would seriously do something as bizarre as foregoing meat for an entire 3-day, 90,000-person music festival - there's no way they'd do it for a sub-headlining act. Right?
Maybe I'm totally wrong here, but I just can't envision The Smiths having a large enough crowd in 2013 to realistically headline Coachella. I don't have anything against The Smiths - but were they ever that big of a deal in the United States? I know they still have a lot of diehard superfans, but I can't imagine The Smiths would have that much more of an appeal in America next year than Pulp or James or even Madness had last year.
I suppose they could headline, I just have a hard time believing the majority of the crowd would prefer The Smiths to whomever is playing in the Sahara Tent at that time.
Just seems like a bit of a gamble to me - giving up tasty, tasty flesh for a band that the majority of people there haven't ever even listened to nor give much of a shit about.
Meat>The Smiths

Coachella seems to have the biggest hardon for the Smiths ever, so I'd buy they might have made that offer. Don't the have a standing offer of some huge amount of money for them to reunite?
I'd say they would be a bigger draw than Madness or James for sure. Bigger than Pulp? Not too sure.
It would be a pretty big risk but Coachella seems pretty confident in its ability to sell out so it wouldn't shock me if they did something like this. At the very least it would get them a whole lot of free publicity.

I'd say they would be a bigger draw than Madness or James for sure. Bigger than Pulp? Not too sure. Coachella would be overpaying The Smiths relative to how much the audience would care but Pulp isn't even in the same league as they are popularity-wise. Pulp has always been a niche band over in the states, The Smiths are a much much much bigger deal. It's never going to happen so it doesn't matter but I'd say their popularity would be more in line with The Cure's.

The Smiths are bullshit. Catering to Morissey's asshole whims is absolute bullshit. But the Smiths at Coachella would be HUGE.
