I can't wait to make your lineup poster for you. Arts and crafts! J-Dawg, are we planning on entering the campground when it opens? I'm all game for an early head start on Thursday morning. I'd love to have a camping spot right near the entrance like Shax did last year. This will take some planning to pull off but it can be done - here's what it would mean: - We coordinate ahead of time re: stuff we want to buy / bring, and I buy everything that is a "buy" before you and Lahey arrive. This includes alcohol and food which I would just buy on Wednesday after work. I'll also fill the tank before picking you up from the airport. - In order to get to the polo grounds by 9:00am when camping opens, we need to be on our way (as in wheels rolling) before 6:30am if we are willing to interpret the speed limit liberally; having lived in SoCal for a while now, I'm pretty sure I know how far we can push it. - Given how I function in the morning, this will mean a 5:45 wake up for me and an immediate caffeine jolt, but that's do-able as long as things don't get too out of hand on Wednesday evening. If all of that sounds OK to you guys, we just need to coordinate the supplies ahead of time so that there's no need to stop Thursday morning.

HOLY FUCK! You're a man who knows how to get shit done. I thought the campground opened at noon, though?
Either way, I'm up for absolutely anything, and definitely down to get there as early as possible. I suppose at this point we can coordinate via PMs, so I'll carry the conversation on over there.

Coachella.com says the camping opens at 9:00am Thursday. That may still be from last year, but I doubt it will be different this year. Shax can probably confirm. As for who's bringing what, we should move it to PM or maybe just start a spreadsheet on google docs (NERD ALERT)

The more I look at the lineup, the more excited I get. There's a lot of acts I want to see, headliners be damned.

I think last year it opened around 8 but I can't remember. I'm not a morning person which is why we're spending the night in Palm Springs. Our ritual is get there Wednesday, buy all of our stuff (vodka), eat at this tasty Thai place, have a swim at our hotel (caliente tropics it's nice and cheap) and then have a good sleep. Then we get to the fields when they open, set up camp, nap if we're tired or begin the drinking if we're not. After the festival we hit an ihop, then back to the Caliente, have a swim, then go for a $40 massage somewhere on the main drag (best thing ever after the festival).

Is there still a two hour wait to get into the campground when you get there early Thursday?

Not as big of fan of that song as some others, but still stoked to see them live. Very cool band.

Yea, I agree, but something about that song in particular made me think it would translate a lot better live than on recording.

Is there still a two hour wait to get into the campground when you get there early Thursday? Two years ago when they opened at noon was bad. Last year we were at our spot within 45 mins of getting there.

Last year we were at our spot within 45 mins of getting there. I like your plan. I might consider it this year. Waiting in lines is a huge peeve of mine, so I'll consider re-arranging plans to avoid that. Two years ago, I believe I waited 3+ hours after driving all day (Medford, OR to Indio). Last year I showed up Friday morning, and even though there were only 50 or so cars waiting to get in, we still had to wait two hours.

I think getting there in the AM is a killer idea. Last year totally sucked having to set up in the dark. Plus, once your campsite is established you have an entite free day to roam the grounds and get acquainted with everything.

For sure you, Megan, a couple we camped beside last year, and myself. Possibly our neighbor from 2011.
