I used dry ice at Sasquatch and Coachella. I used a block at Sasquatch an just put regular ice on top. The dry ice was gone by the third day because I didn't get enough. I got twice as much for Coachella but I got pellets instead and it actually took up less room. I put a bag of ice on top. I put half of someone's extra ice bag in on Saturday, and by Monday morning I still dumped out a cooler full of ice.
You don't really have to worry about grabbing the ice unless to don't put regular ice on top. I also bring gloves invade I need to rearrange the ice or something.
If you google dry ice directory there is a website that lists all of the places an their numbers by area code that sell dry ice to the public.

EDIT: For those coming on I-90 and interested in dry ice, the Fred Meyer's on Water St. in Ellensburg has dry ice. Fred Meyer's is the closest "super store" to the Gorge along I-90.

Freddy's is good if you need to buy a toaster. Super One on Canyon Rd (at the end of fast food lane) is the closest off the freeway to get dry ice. They also have an excellent meat department as well as a superb deli. Moreover, the only liquor store in eburg is located across the street to the north. Fuck CWU (movie quote: the world needs ditch diggers too).

It has always been $3 at the general store in the campgrounds, not $5.

And Drew is totally lying about free ice at Wildhorse. Unless they gave it to him because he is a giant of a man.

Dry ice has frightened me since I was a child. I went to a summer camp when I was 8 and a scientist came with some for a show and tell type thing. He basically said that if you touch if your hand immediately falls off.
THANKS CAMP THUNDERBIRD!

Like my hand is going to shatter like a banana! Bananas are known for their propensity to shatter.
