Record Store Day is fast approaching! I get pretty excited about this. Really, it's one of my favorite holidays.
Info on 2012 RSD releases is pretty scarce at the moment, but we did get word of a 12" from Animal Collective with some of the material they put together for that weird shit they did at the Guggenheim about eighteen months ago.
Get excited. Support your local fuckin' record store. And use this thread as a repository for any information you might find relating to all the cool shit we'll undoubtedly be seeing when RSD rolls around.
BUY OR DIE!

I wish more than anything that it was at a different time of year. This is always when I am most broke, I have nothing to do with my money all winter and then spring comes around at there is so much to do!

Has RSD been represented at Coachella before, and has anyone experienced that?

Mastodon is going to release a limited edition 7" vinyl in baby pink. It looks like the A-side will have the original Flaming Lips - A Spoonful Weighs a Ton, and the B-side will have Mastodons cover of it.
I haven't been into vinyl since I lost my record collection about 7 years ago. I really want to start collecting again.

Yeah, that's about the extent of what I'm interested in; I kinda want that Flaming Lips collaborative 2xLP, but I also kinda don't want to give Uncle Wayne any more dollars until he pulls his head out of his ass. Maybe that Phish box, if it doesn't cost $400.
Either way, Burrito, me and Stormy will be out front of Jackpot! records first thing that morning for a copy of the Animal Collective disc. If it is at all possible, we'll grab a second one for you.

Thanks, man.
...hows about a second Phish box? I'm reaching.

Hit me with a list of what you want and we'll do our best with it. Jackpot! is a tiny little store and it turns into a serious clusterfuck once they unlock the doors on RSD. I'd be happy to do your shopping for you, but obviously I can't guarantee anything.

I share pretty much the exact sentiments that you do, though I am slightly more open to modern Wayne and his freaky ideas. The AC is my only essential, assuming that Phish box is BIG.

Oh yeah, I didn't see it on the list but there is a 7" of Moby's remix of 'Noah's Ark' from Crazy Clown Time that will be available as well. Definitely getting one of those.

Modern Wayne's ideas aren't freaky. They are unimaginative and tedious. He wouldn't be able to sell half of the shit he releases if Lips fans weren't such suckers for shit like gummy fetuses. That list of collaborators says it all. He's going for this 'holy shit!' factor that is entirely on the surface. Flaming Lips and Yoko Ono? Huh, wonder what that'll sound like? And then when you hear it you're like, huh, yep. That sounds pretty much exactly like the Flaming Lips and Yoko Ono at the same time.

I personally loved the Neon Indian shit even though I don't particularly care for Neon Indian. The Prefuse 73 songs were pretty good, and I get very excited listening to Lightning Bolt collaborate with anybody.

Ugh. Not that I care much about Lightning Bolt, but that song they recorded together was one of the worst offenders. That was hardly even a song. Wayne just knows that his fans will eat it up if he talks explicitly about drugs.
Neon Indian can bite my nutsack.

"Coyne told MTV Hive that five or six blood-infused picture discs will be made to be purchased by 'interested rich Flaming Lips people,'..."
