I8, if you want to talk about something that should stop, please review your recent posts in the main lineup thread.

Im really hoping all this talk of NIN headlining is BS cause although they played in 06 i still dont see them as a sasquatch band...

I don't think I'll ever see as many zippers and leather pants as I did when Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus played in 06'.

IMO, if the headliners are really like these insiders claim, Sasquatch will look embarrassing compared to Coachella and Bonnaroo. If Coachella can pull McCartney and Bonnaroo can get Springsteen, LN and Adam Zacks will look like huge d-bags if they can only pull "2 return headliners, and a reunion that most won’t care about". Sasquatch can't realistically compete with Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Autin City Limits. Sure, we have had some really big headliners over the years, but there are three reasons we can't compete. 1. Type of Music - A headliner such as Daft Punk, Metallica, or Jay-Z would never happen since Sasquatch focuses more on Indie bands. 2. Venue capacity - Sasquatch holds 20,000. A lot of the larger headliners out there can sell out the venue on their own. The other four festivals hold 3 to 4 times as many people. 3. Mid tier acts - People can argue Sasquatch headliners are competitive with other festivals, but Sasquatch only has three stages, and the third is mostly dedicated to local bands (not counting the new dance tent which might only be lesser known DJs). If you want to talk about the acts that get people to fly to a festival, you are only talking about the main stage at Sasquatch, plus the top three or so spots in the meadows. The other festivals have several stages, probably 6 or 7 on average. This means there is also usually twice as many bands playing at the other major festivals, which usually means twice as many bands you would enjoy watching. Sasquatch does win when it comes to the scenery and venue, and is one of the winners when it comes to camping (car camping with your own booze is key).

I realize that in terms of numbers, Sasquatch isn't able to match the larger festivals. That's why it is important not to have weak headliners. What Sasquatch lacks in numbers, it makes up for with an overall experience, especially the intimacy of the venue and although I don't camp onsite, the advantageous camping situation. The people at Sasquatch also give the festival a big advantage, at least in my opinion. Not to profile anybody, but at Coachella and Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, you don't really know who you will run into, but at Sasquatch, you can always count on meeting a lot of cool people.
So I definitely agree with a lot of your contentions, but I would have to argue that Sasquatch can absolutely compete with the larger festivals; maybe not in terms of commercial success, but to any faithful music fan, Sasquatch is still up there.

I kept thinking due to the recession, Sasquatch was either going to go big with headliners to ensure they sell out the festival, or go small with headliners and have a lot of mid tier draws, and hope it will sell out. Based on rumors, it sound like the headliners may be a step down from years past (or repeats, which is a step down to some), but the addition of a dance tent, and a couple interesting mid day draws, and it might be one of the better lineups they have had, regardless of who headlines. I am excited to see Monotonix, Animal Collective, and the Avett Brothers.
I keep forgetting people attend the festival without camping. Why might I ask?

I camp, but not at the Gorge. It's a well-guarded, multi-generational secret. Beautiful spot, 15 minute drive to the Gorge, FREE.
I know that it's a little out of the Sasquatch spirit to not camp/party at the Gorge, but I usually go with a group of around 20 friends, so we can still get our party on.

So, according to our lovely friend "the world wide web" The Kinks are actually doing a reunion tour that starts I think in April-ish? How amazing would that be?! I also personally think that if sasquatch were to do a reunion show The Kinks would be perfect for it!

I have heard nothing about The Smashing Pumpkins lately, I wonder how far fetched it would be to see them as a possible headliner for this year. Seeing as Radihead, PearlJam and a lot of other headline possibilities seem to be out of the question

Seeing as Radihead, PearlJam and a lot of other headline possibilities seem to be out of the question Hmm...this is interesting actually. If the supposed "insiders" speak the truth and there is a "reunion band that not many will care about" I'd say Smashing Pumpkins are a pretty good guess. Most people would have been really excited to see them until we all heard how much they suck live now. Have Smashing Pumpkins played Washington yet since they've been touring again?

Smashing Punkins toured extensively in 2008, and skipped the NW, but did play Seattle and Ridgefield (Portland-ish) in 2007. Wow would that suck as a headliner, definitely a reunion band I could care less about.
Then again, if Felix is right, the reunion band could be a band he doesn't care about, and thinks others wouldn't as well. I don't really care about Jane's Addiction, and think half of this board would agree, but they would be a good draw, and a can't miss in my mind.
I updated the first page of this thread yesterday to include Jane's Addiction as a drunken horny slut. This is more based on the rumors that they will be touring with NIN than Mr. Felix's comments.
So I don't think my predictions for headliners will change in the next two days, and since Felix has me duped, my final predictions are:
Jane's Addiction / Nine Inch Nails / Ben Harper & Relentless7 / Kings Of Leon

It would also seemingly bring in a pretty different crowd than last year's MM/REM, DCFC/Cure, Lips lineup. Looks like we're going to at the very least get a great mid-bill selection. Guess we'll see on Tuesday for sure.

Those are good headliners, but not quite for me. I love Ben Harper's voice and guitar skills, can't seem to get into Kings of Leon, and Jane's and NIN are just so-so for me.

Last year was a blast and while I liked seeing REM and the Cure, the highlights for me were not the headliners. Seeing Okkervil River, Malkmus, Breeders on the second stage while having a few beers was the best. New Porns, PUSA and MIA were my main stage highlights.
