I like hints, I like clues, and we all like speculating, and since this is the headliners (speculation) thread, I will add to the speculation,
Earlier tonight, someone posted in the lineup thread (in case you didn't read it, it seems to belong here either way):
EDIT: 2/13 - "BLAH BLAH I know the headliners, you don't, hahaha, BLAH BLAH, no Radiohead BLAH BLAH, not Pearl Jam, BLAH BLAH, Pay attention to me."
It was interesting when he posted it, but he turned into another spammer continually bragging about what he knows (END EDIT).
Since we have nothing else to go on, let's just play the game that Felix and this dude above are telling the truth, I certainly would count their supposed "insider knowledge" over 80% of other "insider knowledge" posts I have read on other web boards. I also agree with new dude that Pearl Jam and Radiohead will not be there, and if he is not bullshitting, No Doubt will not be there.
We will know for sure if these two dudes are phonies in a couple days, but my thoughts now on the headliners are this:
Nine Inch Nails/Oasis/Ben Harper & the Relentless7. Oasis would be considered a reunion band no one cares about, right? After all, they were the first rumored headliner. The "fucking hell yeah" replacement would be the Beastie Boys over Ben Harper. I find it nearly impossible to think any other band would repeat headlining.
As for the Kanye spot who is not a headliner, it would have to be Lupe Fiasco, right?
Then again, the new post above could very well be Felix himself, laughing at all of us. But the speculation is still fun.

It could be Phish. They just got back together. I wouldnt be suprized if it was them who was the reunion band.

I know many people say that so it will be doubted. Oh well. I promised I wouldn't say who they were but I will say that the guesses on here are much closer than the frenzy of internet noize that was the Coachella Board leading up to their announcement. I will also say: no radiohead, no pearl jam, no no doubt I can't find the post by 'felix' that people are referring to but he is correct: two repeat headliners and a reunion band. I was also told Kings of Leon and that one is pretty established from other sources so I don't mind saying that. The last name I was told was not a headliner but, as I said on the Sasquatch blog today, will be more like Kanye was in 2005. Different vibe by a well known name. I'm just finding it interesting how this all looks when (for the first time) I know who the top names are and others are trying to piece it together (and generally doing a pretty good job). " Since we have nothing else to go on, let's just play the game that Felix and this dude above are telling the truth, I certainly would count their supposed "insider knowledge" over 80% of other "insider knowledge" posts I have read on other web boards. No to Lupe and I'm not going to comment on your guesses at headliners as I'll just end up giving it away if I keep doing that. I'm not Felix. I can't even find the actual post by him; just references to it by others but he seems to have similar info to mine. My source is way up high and with the announcement so close it's pretty certain it won't change. He's pretty excited about the whole lineup but only told me five bands.

If it is not Lupe, it is Public Enemy then.
Sorry dude, I don't have anything to back up the Phish comment, other than an "insider source." And that is not a sarcastic remark meant to offend anyone.

Sorry to interupt, but can some one explain Felix's rumors? what bands is he speculating on? He wrote... Felix on Feb 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm Don’t worry…it’s not going to be cancelled. The headliners are pretty disappointing though. Felix on Feb 9th, 2009 at 11:52 pm The top 4 bands are KOL, 2 return headliners, and a reunion that most won’t care about. The 2nd tier bands are great though. consequenceofsound.net/festival-outlook/sasquatch-music-festival/

If it is not Lupe, it is Public Enemy then. Public Enemy would be killer. What about Erykah Badu?

Erykah Badu just played Marymoor last summer, but I suppose that is far enough in the past to include her as a possibility.

I wonder when this insider says that two of th ebands are repeat headliners, does that mean that they have headlined before? or have just been to Sasquatch before as a sub headliner. That would at least open up the possibilities of other bands (Like MMJ, modest mouse, etc...
Because other than Arcade Fire and the Flaming lips, and Beck I guess, I wouldn't be impressed by any other headliners (especially NIN, whom I saw at Pemberton last year - and enjoyed, I just don't like their music enough to want to see the light show again).

IMO, if the headliners are really like these insiders claim, Sasquatch will look embarrassing compared to Coachella and Bonnaroo. If Coachella can pull McCartney and Bonnaroo can get Springsteen, LN and Adam Zacks will look like huge d-bags if they can only pull "2 return headliners, and a reunion that most won’t care about".
That being said, I will still be attending SQ09 regardless of who headlines. I just think that, as a faithful Sasquatch attendee, I will feel pretty let down if the headliners are NIN, Beastie Boys/Ben Harper, and Blur or something like that.
I'm inclined to be doubtful about this recently surfaced insider information though, since Sasquatch is trying to muscle into the festival limelight previously reserved for Coachella and Bonnaroo exclusively. I have a hard time believing that LN and AZ would settle for two headliners that are already subheadlining another festival (NIN and Beastie Boys)

'Felix' may not think people are interested in the reunion band but of the five I know, that's the one that interests me the most and I think they will be a solid draw.

In my mind, there are VERY few reunion bands that could make up for the injustice of the other two headliners, assuming it turns out that our guesses and information have been close to the mark.

i could dig a reunion like blur, but neverhood has the most important point--why should we care what felix says? who is felix? i could have made a speculation just as general as his and i should hope it wouldn't get everyone all excited...i could have said "the headliners are KOL, a repeat headliner and a reunion act--and wait till you see who it is!" and everyone would be guessing great bands instead of disappointing ones?
