I changed Fleetwood Mac's status, who are now seeking spiritual treatment based on recently posted tour dates. I added Supermodels Arcade Fire, Phish, and Blur. I also updated DMB and No Doubt. I disagree that Kings of Leon can headline just because they headlined Glastonbury. As far as I know, they are much bigger in Europe, and Friday's lineup from Glastonbury last year was very sub-par. I could argue six bands playing said fest Saturday/Sunday are bigger in the states, especially in the NW. I may be underestimating the success of their newest album though. I think people are aiming a bit low for headliners based on a few comments. I think with the recession, festivals need to book a couple big draws to ensure high ticket sales. This appears to be the case with McCartney at Coachella and the Boss/Phish at Bonnaroo. Sasquatch's headliners over the past four festivals have been some of the bigger acts out there. How about My Bloody Valentine? The Sasquatch/Primavera combo isn't unprecedented (Grizzly Bear in '07 and Okkervil River in '08). And I think with all the reason to talk about Costello, he would at least be in the running.

I saw Costello open for the police at the gorge last summer. he was great but only had about a 30 minute set which is not nearly enough. I would support bringing him back

I'd like to throw two name into the hat -Sigur Ros -The Strokes As awesome as Sigur Ros would be, I have a hard time seeing them coming all the way out just for Sasquatch. They have no tour dates anytime soon, and while I would love to see them there, I would be surprised. I think they would be a perfect headliner though.

Oh I'm not expecting them to come either. I just wanted to see where they'd be ranked in the Headliners rankings at the start of this thread

I really hope Kanye is not there. I loved College Dropout, and Late Registration was alright, but based on how disgustingly mainstream he has become, I hope that he and his following are absent from Sasquatch this year. We might be overrun by frat guys with shaved chests who truly believe that Kanye is the Jimi Hendrix of this generation (actual comparison made by Kanye himself). I will admit though, that I would rather see him there than No Doubt or a few of the other names that have been dropped.

I have to agree. By adding Kanye it would some what kill the sasquatch vibe for me. It just seems like he wouldnt fit in at this type of festival what so ever. God I hope No Doubt isnt there also!!

I don't know much about My Bloody Valentine. I agree Primavera and Sasquatch can be done, but less likely with a headliner, and one already playing Coachella. For Okkervil River and Grizzly Bear, it was more likely an honor to get to play Primavera to promote their sound.
Sigur Ros, they would be Supermodel status, but they played NW shows recently, last fall, and have no shows scheduled. The chances are basically nil, so I won't add them yet. If they hadn't played last fall, they would be a much bigger draw.
Kanye, sure, I could go for that as a possible headliner. He did play his Glow in the Dark in the NW late spring last year, so I highly doubt he would be there, but I'll add him as a Friend of a Friend (barely beating out Crack Whore status).
Gnarls Barkley is not a big enough draw to be a headliner, nor are they very interesting live.
As for Elvis Costello, my opinion is that he is not headliner material. There were still tickets available a couple weeks before his show in Portland a couple years ago at a 1,400 capacity venue. I am guessing the show eventually sold out, but I cannot confirm this. The crowd seemed a bit small compared to recent shows I have seen at the same venue. He did play forever, 150 minutes, but he has a lot of cheesy pop songs. I do like a lot of his older stuff, but I'm not sure I would even pay to see him live again. I don't think his following is nearly the level of previous Sasquatch headliners.
What do people think about the Strokes? Are they big enough to draw 10,000 plus? I don't follow them.

I've never liked The Strokes. They were a shitty hype band like eight years ago, who gives a shit anymore?

I don't think The Strokes could necessarily be a selling point for Sasquatch, but I could see them as a third headliner. I, like everyone else, have no idea what the headliners look like, but if they had trouble booking big names, I wouldn't exactly be surprised to see them in an HL slot. They would be better there than KOL, so that would at least be a plus. So I definitely wouldn't go crazy if they were a headliner, but I would definitely expect them to put on a decent show.

I highly doubt the Strokes will be there. As much as I love em, they aren't exactly ideal for Sasquatch. Not to mention they are rumoured to be writing new material and recording this spring.
On the other hand, I would not be completely shocked to see one of their side projects: Little Joy (Fabrizio), Nickel Eye (Nikolai), or Albert Hammond Jr. solo. Here's hoping for Little Joy! If you haven't heard their self-titled debut, I highly recommend checking it out.

I agree with you, Little Joy is fantastic and Nickle Eye is also quite enjoyable. However, I don't think any will show. I would be extremely excited if The Strokes were to show though!

I'd say Nickel Eye is the only serious contender. The album just dropped a few days ago and he only has 2 weeks of tour dates so far.
Now to get things back on topic... IMO, the top contenders for headliners at this point are Kings of Leon, Nine Inch Nails, and Elvis Costello. Yes I realize these are very underwhelming, and are certainly not my personal choices, but those are just my best bets based on what I've read and heard. Luckily, I will almost definitely be wrong.
I am hoping Live Nation can snag My Bloody Valentine before they head to Primavera Sound.
p.s. Yet another reason to hate Pitchfork. They steal all these amazing bands for their "PFork Stage" at Primavera
Escenari Pitchfork: Bowerbirds, The Bug, Crystal Antlers, Crystal Stilts, The Mae Shi, Plants & Animals, Ponytail, The Tallest Man On Earth, Vivian Girls, Wavves.

Nine Inch Nails, they are getting a little wasted in the booth by the bar. They look desperate, the ring finger has a tan line where a ring once rested.
I updated the first post of this thread, and upgraded NIN. The comments on this board, mixed with the recent addition of Bonnaroo to their Lights in the Sky tour, and the fact that they skipped Seattle on their recently concluded tour makes this as good of a favorite as we have.

I'd say they are a good bet for Saturday headliners. For those who don't think they are popular enough to headline in North America, please direct your eyes to some of the venues listed above.

Kings of Leon just played in Seattle in late October, I am not sure it sold out, but even if it did it only holds 3500 people so I would be surprised if they headlined Sasquatch!, a 20,000 person venue. Having said that, I would not be unhappy if they headlined!

The whitestripes?? no real evidence to back them up... though i think they would be a great headliner.
