So a few people have been throwing out their top 5 and top 10 must see acts for this year, so I Dr. Garbanzoured I'd make a new thread for it.
GO!

Not sure wether to just get the discussion going here or make a new thread, but I think it would be interesting to know each posters TOP 5 MUST SEE ACTS for SASQUATCH 2012. The thread created by davers does a good job of providing a quick place of reference for individuals to learn a thing or two about bands that may be otherwise foreign to them , but reading a quick summary and listening to a few tracks only goes so far. I think seeing a quick list of someones top 5 acts and maybe a quick (dare I say tweet style) blurb about why the set should not be missed would be quite helpful. Heck even just a list without a description would be kind of fun to take a look at. So here we go in no particular order: 1. Shearwater - Powerful stage presence via the voice of Meiburg and percussion of Thor. 2. Active Child - Fusing a choir boy voice a harp and adding a bit of an electronic edge seems to interesting to pass up. 3. Beck - He's Beck and i've yet to see him live (fail on my part). 4. Mogwai - Next to Talk Talk and Slint probably my favorite post-rock outfit. Especially when they get LOUD. 5. Craft Spells - I'm really digging the New New Order thing. For the record, I saw Active Child open for M83 in November and was very unimpressed. Then again I had never heard any of their music before, so maybe that makes a difference.

They needed more parachutes, right Davers?

Edit: The wesite classifies Rich Aucoin as 'SYMPHONIC POP'. Hahaha wut? Pretty sure that's been a genre describer since Phil Spector and Brian Wilson. Though the quality it is now attached to has become quite diluted (no offense Rich Aucoin).

No, I was very excited to see Active Child open for M83 and they were pretty awful. These are the type of comments I was hoping a thread like this would bring to the forefront. Not saying it will or should change my mind, but it will potentially help me or anyone else make a decision when presented with a stage conflict. Here's to hoping that this thread grows...

Not sure I've earned the "start a new thread authority" yet...you know, based on the Arbitrary Board Code section 18.4.3(d)(iii).

The moment I've been waiting for!!!! I love lists, but I'm digging SO many acts this year I know I'm going to miss out on something! I love having a zune account so I can listen to everybody. I've never been more impressed with any Sasquatch lineup. Really in love with the blues artists they've signed this year, I love 3 of the headliners, and keeping my fingers crossed for Feed Me or Excision.
Here's a list..
Pretty Lights/Beck/Jack White/Tenacious D Black Whales Blitzen Trapper the Sheepdogs Purity Ring Nero Mogwai Wolfgang Gartner Com Truise
Who saw that coming?

No, I was very excited to see Active Child open for M83 and they were pretty awful. That's really funny. I kept saying how awful live they were when I saw them last spring but opening for M83 I thought they were great. The addition of a powerful sound system did wonders for the band
