I've seen the White Stripes quite a few times, but none of it compared to the times I saw Jack with the Raconteurs. This is why I cannot wait to see him with a full band again. Side Note: The girl fiddle player, Ella-May, is from a band called Jypsi which is an act my friends and I have been seing for years everytime we go to Nashville. We've all hung out (they are a family band of incredibly talanted and attractive people. Their brother is unreal on guitar) and have shared drinks at Layla's Bluegrass Inn together on more than a few occaisions. PROOF!

One of the things I am hoping for with Jack is that he brings some awesome merch with him to sell. A couple of limited edition 45's might be nice.

I would buy that dude's sweat if it was sold in viles. 45's? As in old man records 45's. I can't believe people actually buy those still. Would his music even be available on records? I had always assumed Jack White was relatively young and new.

I heard on the radio that when Jack was young he worked at a store that re-covers old furniture. He had a band and pressed a small amount of their albums on vinyl and hid them in the fabric of couches. The ultra crazy thing is that it was clear vinyl, so even if you x-ray the furniture you can't see it. You literally have to rip the seams and stick your hand in there to find it. All this before he was even remotely popular. It's like he knew he was going to be famous and these things would be worth a ton of money some day.

I'm not quite sure you understand how Xrays work there davers... but I have heard about the furniture thing, it's pretty cool. I would be cool just to have a couch made by Jack White, let alone finding some hidden record.

There is a major part in It Might Get Loud where they show his early life in the upholstery business, but they never mention the fact that he hid CD's in the furniture. I have heard that rumour before as well, but the secrecy of it all just adds to his mystique.

Oh I wasn't meaning to call you out Davers. Jack White was just trying to make it sound cool and mysterious I bet. The fact that something is clear or transparent has absolutely no effect on an Xray. Xrays pick up densities of objects, and are not effected by opaque objects. That's why clear oxygen tubing shows up on chest xrays. For example this guy shoved a clear pint glass up his ass, you can definitely see it...even if you didn't want to: Yay, I know things!

1) I don't really want to know how you found that picture 2) Who wants to go to thrift shops in and around Detroit with some scissors/knives and find one of these records?

Haha my mom is an X-Ray/MRI tech, and I'm going into respiratory therapy and will have to read X-rays...but I just straight up googled that haha.
And regarding looking for the furniture, some of his early records with the White Stripes sell for $20,000, I think that a piece of furniture that Jack White built with a 100 copy limited edition vinyl will go for a bit more. Plus I really need a chair for my new place.

It won't go for more than a few bucks unless they know the record is in there though. He said that none of them have been found that he knows of...

I'd like to have the chair as well. It hasn't been found because in the scheme of things Jack White is small potatoes, and no one knows or cares enough to rip apart a piece of furniture.

Either that or he never even made them in the first place and he just wants to seem badass. Even if someone did find one theres a pretty good chance it would be in a million little pieces by now.
It's still a cool story though.

Jack White's concert was streamed on Youtube yesterday. The set was pretty much the same variation of what he's been playing, though he added Carolina Drama. I've never been a huge fan of that song on record, but live it works well and seeing him add it bodes well for Sasquatch. I was beginning to think there may be no surprises in store for us, but it looks like Jack White may still have some tricks up his sleeve. Hopefully we get a few unique songs not yet played on tour.

Jack White: Unstaged
The whole thing was a lot of fun. I really like the tweaks and countrified spin he's put on some of his older stuff with the 'girl band'. The whole 'girl band' and 'guy band' thing is something that I feel I should hate, but I actually thought it was pretty cool and made for a great 2 set show.
I've seen the White Stripes 3 times (2003, 2004, and 2007) and the Raconteurs twice. I've enjoyed the hell out of all of those shows but I think I liked the Unstaged show the best of all of them (even though I wasn't actually there). The musicians were pretty solid (especially the drummers, especially especially the guy drummer) and I thoroughly enjoyed the dramatics of the whole show. The costumes, the facial expression 'acting' bands both did, as well as the 'theatrical' chemistry they show on stage all worked really well.
Whenever I initially listen to new Jack White stuff I do a lot of head shaking and wonder why he would ever sing "a lyric like that" or why he needs to have so many affecting vocal lines or "how many songs does he need to sing about stuff needing to be badass"". Yet, everytime I see him live all that shit (and I mean all that shit) clicks so well and is totally fucking awesome. Even a tune like "Cuts like a Buffalo", which I can't say I was ever into on record, was dynamite live with the 'guy band'. Jack's voice has also never sounded better.
I can't wait to get rocked at Sasquatch.
