I'm not really a fan of Tallest Man on Earth so maybe I should still consider checking out this Damien guy.

I learned my lesson about eating mysterious Sasquatch power bars. Watching The Tallest Man on Earth while stoned off my ass and crying like a little kid was a bit ridiculous. Damien Jurado sucks. I wound up at one of his shows because I had nothing better to do and he bored me to no end. Apparently the link between Tallest Man on Earth and Damien Jurado doesnt apply to everyone. Oh of course not, and knowing Pea, that was in no way intended directly for him, but for anyone who may have a similar interest... There was quite a crowd in 2010 for Tallest Man, so I know there's a draw.

Love you dontoro, but can't get behind that comparison at all. That's fair. I haven't seen Jurado in a few years, so your experience could be more of what we should look forward to, but when I saw Tallest Man that was the first thing I thought.

He just sold out the neptune, so as a local act he is a relatively large add. It is pretty mellow stuff, but he is a good song writer. Not the most exciting live though.

Yeah I saw him at Empyrion (i think that is what it was called) in Spokane with a girl that was probably louder than that crowd combined. It was pretty embarrassing to be in that show with her crew. He was pretty sleepy to me as well
**Well that video is down now...oh well you get the idea

Sorry badchoices. Shouldn't have deleted my post, but I didn't want to make it look like I'm going on a crusade against him or anything.

No worries, I am not anti-damien either. I will be skipping his set though at Sasquatch! One time was enough for me

First drop out. Imelda's preggers. This news makes me sad. Was really looking forward to her set. Love Tattoo is a great album. Good for her though.

First drop out. Imelda's preggers. This should make Rush and the GOP happy. She must have dropped the aspirin bottle.

Singer songwriter. Saw him open for Shearwater a few years back in Lawrence, KS. Played to a pretty packed house purely accoustic no amp no mic just brought it. Hey nice Chud, at the Jackpot, right? Missed the larryville show and too bad, Shearwater has a really cool style. It's not hard to fill up that place and they system can sound pretty good depending on who's working sound. Damien Jurado reminds me of Jose Gonzalez crossed with James Taylor. A bit coffee shoppish in style, though, if not coma-inducing. Not my bag.

Jackpot! The fact that he performed without and sound equipment definitely made it coffee shop in nature...but like I said, he brought it. Anyone who's into singer songwriter stuff should dig his set because he's good at it. Can't say that it was for me or that he would do well at Sasquatch (not the most intimate of settings) but for what he is, he is good.

I'd take your word for it, I'm sure he is. Maybe he'll be at one of the smaller stages. I could imagine a daytime slot.

We will all be passed out in a chair or drinking Caesars when Damien Jurado is playing so let's not worry about it.

Hey here's a joke: what's the difference between Chiddy Bang and a band I've already seen and am generally unimpressed by?
Nothing.
