And every Dave Grohl band is a band of bands if your band is a Dave Grohl Band.

Dave Grohl is officially filling in on drums for the album. I still have a glimmer of hope that he'll make an appearance for the D's set. The foo have got nothing planned around the same time. I'm betting on it / bringing extra underwear that day. lolgross

If that doesn't get you excited, I dunno what will. Any lingering questions I had concerning the D's relevance have been subdued. That shit's gonna be amazing. Seriously? I guess I'm still missing something because that was awful. Jack Black is the anti-funny.

The thing about Tenacious D is that they're really talented; Kyle's fingers be silver, Jack's voice it be gold, etc. And the drumming on that track was wicked, obviously, because Dave Grohl is like the most excellent rock drummer.
But that song was hardly even a song. That sounded like something Trey Parker crapped out in five minutes for yet another montage scene in South Park. I guess 'montage song' is what they were going for, but to release that as your lead single doesn't really inspire confidence in your material.

Hey now, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Comedy rock is excellent, as long as it's funny and the music doesn't suck. Sadly, Tenacious D is no longer either of these things.
I'm still going to be alllllllll up in their set, but I come anticipating no larfs.

Good point. I actually love Pleaseeasaur. Although I would clasify his act as comedy jingles not comedy rock. There it is, I like jingles and hate rock. Sue me!

I'm more excited for the talking in between songs than the actual songs. Steel Panther was almost more entertaining when they weren't playing music than when they were. The thing is, the jokes in the songs get old, but if they make the set funny in other ways then the music is just gravy.
I'm still going to pee my pants when they play 'Fuck Her Gently' either way though. That song never gets old.

This. I don't give a FUCK what they do, as long as they sing Sasquatch with John C. Reilly.

davers, I hope you find me so we can pee our pants together. Sounds most excellent. I tried to learn that song but there's a chord in there that I can't make properly so I somewhat gave up. If I do figure it out there will be a song-a-long every night for 2 hours at my tent.

Whether you find artistic merit in them or not, you know the D will be fun.

Yeah. Half the bands I see at Sasquatch I don't come to looking for 'artistic merit'. More than half. I just seek out the bands that seem like they'd be the most fun, and Tenacious D definitely fits that bill.

I thought Tribute was a piece of shit the first time I heard it. In time The D's greatness will once again be revealed.
