That said, of the four times that I've seen Modest Mouse, two were unbelievably bad. That's part of what impressed me so much at last year's festival: last time they were at Sasquatch (2008), they sounded so awful it made me want to cry. And on tour for Good News back in 2003 or so, I saw them here in Portland and it was entirely forgettable.
So who knows really how good they are anymore. Their last record certainly sucked shit, so there's that.

Should I be expecting much from Beck? I'm thinking he is like MM, nothing new recently but a superstar back in the days. I've never seen him, so I don't know what to expect.

Beck used to be my favorite performer in the world; I've seen him I think five times. I haven't seen him in six or seven years -- the last time being at the Rose Garden on the Guero tour. I thought that was a great, great show, if not as great as he was in the late 90's.
His material has gotten progressively less interesting since Guero, and I hear his sets reflect that. Even so, if he's even half as good as he used to be, he'll still upstage 95% of the acts on the lineup this year.

Your avatar looks scary, but your just a sweet old grandma at heart aren't you? Thanks for all the insight. Really cool to hear from all you "real" concert goers opinions. Gonna plug into some Beck now and feel his vibe. Thinking Odelay is the way to start?

No, I really am pretty abrasive. A real asshole. I just like talking about stuff I like.
As for Beck, start with Midnite Vultures.

I hope the third times a charm for them. I saw them last year and then the year before at Marymoor and was disappointed both times. I really enjoy their music otherwise. That's odd for me to hear. Their Marymoor show was my second favorite of the six times I've seen them, with the 2008 UFO set at the Gorge being the best. In my opinion all but last year's Sasquatch set have been life changing shows from them. They have a pretty similar formula for each show, but they change it up just enough so that I'm always wanting to go see them every time they're in town.

Modest Mouse surprised the shit out of me last year and were incredible. I had been planning on leaving to catch Ratatat but ended up staying for the whole thing.

It sucks when people don't get Animal Collective. ...sucks for them, I mean. Alright, Mr. Elite, you sound like me talkin' about Pavement.

I'm never going to mention Pavement again, Lumpy. It's too much of a strain on our love.

Modest Mouse last year was my favourite set of the festival. I've seen them once before and it was a good time, but the energy, the song choice, the atmosphere, and just every little detail of that 2011 performance made it an unforgettable show.
As far as Beck goes, I was one of the ones who had never really ventured into his catalog prior to the lineup drop, but so far I'm very impressed. I imagine he'll play a pretty varied set, but here's hoping he'll pull a lot out of Odelay and Vultures.
Ideally, he'll channel that same shit MM did and just explode heads.

Is it even debatable that fun is hands down the worst act on the bill? Honorable mention: Walk the Moon.
