heh, i really only said it as a precursor to the "hey douche that album is from 1989" comments...I'm sure if i did something truly awful i would be perma-banned instantaneously...

When I ban someone, it's usually for no reason at all.

I for one am not adding any of those until I get the "Accelerated Cheese 2012 Verified" stamp of approval.

Putrifiers II is just what I needed. It's like the album I always wished Deerhunter would come out with. But Thee Oh Sees did it and hit it out of the park. This is just what I needed. I could listen to "Will We Be Scared" forever.

I need to add:
Animal Collective - Centipede Hz Why? - Mumps, etc.
and the album I'm surprised nobody is talking about around here because I've been blown away by it,
David Byrne and St. Vincent - Love This Giant
Seriously, it's like the lost Talking Heads album. I was hoping for more of a St. Vincent affair because I was worried about David Byrne's ability to write a pop album in 2012, but holy shit. I'm sure they wrote the songs together but this is all David Byrne, all day, and it's fucking fantastic. "Dinner For Two" has been in my head for a week.

The debut album from California Wives has me pretty sucked in right now. They have kind of a Pains of Being Pure at Heart sound with vocals similar to Silversun Pickups. Pretty typical Pea tunes. Lots of really dreamy and sugary elements. Not quite sure if I'm ready to add it to my list yet, but it's really growing on me.

Yeah, it was. I listened to it once, and I loved it. Had the same problem that I've had with every David Byrne album for the last twenty years, though -- his voice. He lost that neurotic/paranoid/bored/resigned/listless quality after Speaking in Tongues and it never really came back.

Yeah his voice is way more refined and less emotive. That's why it was so perfect alongside the overly-emotive chicas of Dirty Projectors in "Knotty Pine" a couple of years ago. But man, these are some funky tunes, and I think Annie Clark adds just enough of herself to make them awesome.
