What's up ya'll! This thread was started on January 19th last year, but I think that was too late, so I'm starting it now.
It's the 2012 Lineup Prediction Competition!
I didn't like the rules last year, so I'm making simpler rules:
Guess 21 bands. Doesn't matter if they're big or small, tall or short. Whoever gets the most right, wins!
Bonus: you can put a "headliner" designation next to up to four of your bands. If that band is on the lineup and a headliner, you get two points. [i.e. "1. Pulp (headliner)"]
Tiebreaker: in the event of a tie, the first to post is the winner.
Post your guesses in the thread. I don't want all those PMs.
The deadline is Saturday, Jan. 21, or the second the lineup drops, whichever comes first.
Now we just need some crackpot amateur entrepreneur to give a t-shirt to the victim. Volunteers PM me.
Good luck!

This is going to be really difficult considering that we don't know anything.

Last year this time, the only thing we knew was Foo Fighters. That we don't know a headliner yet only indicates that they didn't blow their whole god damn wad on one band.
The moral of the story is Stop Bitching About There Being No Lineup Yet. It'll be here in a couple weeks. Then when that happens maybe this place will snap out of the shitty mood it's been in for the last two months.

BLOC PARTY/SNOW PATROL/ARCTIC MONKEYS/PULP
It's like having an ice cream cone in one hand and a gun in the other, and having to use both.

This is going to be really difficult considering that we don't know anything. Isn't that, kinda, the point of the game, E?

How does it work with the rumoured bands on know's blog -- can we put any of them down? will they be worth less points or anything?

I didnt put Dragon Boy Suede on there because that's already a given.

Davers, your list is pretty close to the one I'm compiling.
I just spent the last 3 hours of my shift researching bands' tour dates. If my shifts stay this slow all week I might even break it down to what stage I think each band will be on.

With set times, conflicts and crowd sizes!
It was really a shame that Yo La Tengo was up against M83. They deserved a lot more people than the 742 that showed up, but you can't really blame people for wanting to watch M83 at sunset on the mainstage. That show was awesome.

fun!
1. Red Hot Chili Peppers [headliner] 2. Portishead [headliner] 3. Black Keys [headliner] 4. Mumford & Sons [headliner] 5. Bon Iver 6. Arctic Monkeys 7. Fleet Foxes 8. Air 9. Pretty Lights 10. The Shins 11. Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros 12. Feist 13. War On Drugs 14. Wild Flag 15. WU LYF 16. Tune-Yards 17. St Vincent 18. Fucked Up 19. Allen Stone 20. Bombay Bicycle Club 21. Alabama Shakes
I actually hope I'm wrong about a few of the headliners (like Mumford) and right about a few of the reaches (like Air and St Vincent).
one question - headliner is defined as the top billing on the poster, right? because the slot the FLips played last year (and Pavement the year before) is billed the same or higher than other bands that close the mainstage. so really, you could say there would be 5 headliners this year. just splitting hairs.
bring it on, nerds!

I'd say they are only a headliner if they close the mainstage, even though I would argue that the Flaming Lips were more of a draw than Death Cab.

Headliners: The Black Keys/Deadmau5/The Shins/Pearl Jam
Active Child Pretty Lights Bombay Bicycle Club Two Door Cinema Club James Blake Ryan Adams Jack White (Total wild card, just some form of him, probably Raconteurs) Purity Ring Gotye Miike Snow Tom Waits Porter Robinson Avicii The Weeknd Awol Nation BON IVER (HEY PEA I THINK BON IVER IS GONNA BE THERE LOOK <=====) -____-
Honestly think that we won't get a full friday (thank fucking God) I see a ton more EDM music (ehh whatever I guess) lastly, I see no one actually taking real advantage of re-entry
