With only 4 months left until the best time of the year, I need to start planning!!! Last year was my first year there and it was super great, I thank lots of you for some helpful tips that made it so great!! Do you all have any other ideas or tips for this year??
I think I am going to do premiere camping again, but I hated all the security people walking by the campsite every 5 minutes. Makes it hard to enjoy a good bong hit!! I do think this year we will be bringing some shrooms or something more fun than weed. We will be bringing a blanket into the concert and lay it out as soon as we get there!! We will bring in more beer and weed, we had no problems getting it in last year.
It got really windy where we were last year and we tried blocking it our car and tarps, so this year I will try and devise a plan to help better with that.
I also wish the peeps in premiere would party more and way later!!!
So what do you have to say??

I actually did premiere camping for the reason of not wanting what goes on in the other campground.

General camping all the way. The Canadians seem to throw some wild after party Bring a bottle to the general camping and your bound to make some friends
Zoo town huh seanzor?
Another tip and one of the most obvious, lock your shit up before heading into the show. Even if you only have the tent to store your stuff, lock that up

for those that aren't aware, don't expect to get much (if any) sleep if you stay in the general campground. last year was also my first time. 2am-8am were supposed to be the quiet hours, but the security didn't crack down on people making lots of noise. the first night people didn't shut up until well after 4am.
also the honey buckets in the general campground were disgusting. the second day i went in one where someone had vomited all over the inside, then the next one i went into had a couple used condoms sitting to the side of the seat.
another reason to get a premium campsite is the shower situation. as a first timer i had no clue if there were showers for general campground people to use, and if there were, there were no signs indicating where. as a person that showers every single day i was pretty horrified to have to go 3 days without one.
last time i didn't bring adequate sunblock, so by the third day i was as red as a lobster. bring some of the most heavy duty sunblock you can find, since the gorge is pretty much a part of a high desert where the UV index gets sky high even if it isn't a perfectly sunny day.
one last thing i can think of is to buy a camelbak backpack with plenty of water storage. i thought it would be a great idea to park myself at the main stage for 10-12 hours each day without water, and i had some serious dehydration issues by the third day.

Not going to happen, thats why people choose premiere(see seaznor), at least thats the only reason I can think of? none of the the other perks are worth the money, unless your some kind of clean freak, like scough here^^, half joking... If you plan on sleeping during sasquatch, instead of getting mad at other campers, bring some earplugs or headphones(or large doses of whiskey).
General camping is the only way to go, imo, and in response to the nasty honeybuckets... they're always nasty, bring your own Toilet Paper, and now for one of the best festival ideas ever........ Bring your own toilet seat! they're cheap and make the honey buckets managable especially for the ladies-- Although be prepared to look goofy toting one around the campground!

Haha I totally agree about the earplugs! Last year there was techno music blasting all night long it was like a constant rave. However, you do get to meet really cool people in general camping. I also got extremely burnt after the second day which totally sucks when people are dancing around and pooping into your shoulders.

Last year was my first year as well and I had a blast . One thing I learned , if you stay in general camping ( which I thought was awesome) and you plan to drink ( I'm Canadian so it goes without saying) make sure you pay close attention to where your tent is and how to get back to it in the dark! Lets just say the first night for me was quite an ordeal , I must of walked around for an hour and a half trying to find my tent , everywhere just seemed to look the same. Its funny now but at the time ........ not so much

Please refresh my memory, since it was such a blur last year. But can we stay in Premiere camping and still walk over to general camping and party over there? I really do love the showers and the shuttle. Plus not having to wait in line to get in the venue was awesome, they hardly checked our backpack!

I think that you are an ass clown and you will fuck this all up. Then we will have to hike in and sleep in a square like Coachella

I have a few tips after three years of the best festival in the world!
-Bake some (a shitload) of pizza and wrap it up in foil; keep it in your cooler. It is a glorious meal post-concert or when you wake up at 6 a.m. from the sun beating down on your tent.
-Camp near someone with an RV and make friends with them. This can help with the wind situation. And last year we traded them Bloody Marys for Bacon. Definitely worth it.
-Don't speed through the Gorge. There's pretty much always construction which usually means double the fine.
-Don't do drugs. Just booze.
-Get there as early as possible on Friday and camp there. The walk is SOOO much easier to the show.

Good suggestions . I've been debating with myself if I should show up early Friday or not. Last year I showed up at 12:05 friday night (saturday morning?). Since it was technically saturday, I saved myself the cost of an extra days camping. I wouldn't want to show up any later though. My walk was fine. I would be happy with the exact same spot every year. The only down side is setting up in the dark...

I always use pringles cans to smuggle in tall boy beers they fit perfectly! buy 2/3 cans of pringles, I open the chips carefully (you need to keep in inner seal in good shape), punch a small air hole in the bottom of the can, slide the beer in & replace paper top, plastic cover and hey presto.
ps empty chips into a zip lock bag (good for munchies)
I used the same two cans for all three days last year.

I'm mostly worried about the lack of shower situation.. but I would sacrifice showers for a better party. This way I would get the best of both worlds!

I'd be a bit more cautious about sharing tips for sneaking in booze and stuff like that. I am sure someone who runs security reads message boards like this. They may make it so we can't bring anything in if you're not careful.
