Alright, after all the hate that talk of Santa Clauses (Yes virginia, they do exist), $$$, and billing gets in the other topics, this one is designed specifically for just that.
Want to point out which bands won't be there cause they're playing in March? This is the topic!
Want to argue pointlessly about which bands have restrictions on playing Seattle before the show (pro-tip: it's all of them), this is the topic!
Want to have me create a rough sketch of where a band will be billed because of relative popularity and cost? this is defiantly the topic.
To get us started, Of Montreal won't be there cause they're playing Seattle in March
Conversely, EMA looks more likely because they're playing the midwest in March and have no west coast shows except in their hometown.
other bands with Seattle shows between Feb and May: Los Campesinos, mutemath, Dr Dog, Cursive, Die Antwoord, Cloud Nothings, Punch Brothers, Kaiser Chiefs, Sharon Von Etten, Bowerbirds, Young the Giant, Andrew Bird, Band of Skulls, Metronomy, Gotye, Kasabian, Bear in Heaven, Coldplay, Justice, M83, Neon Indian, The Twilight Sad, cults
If you find anymore you want me to add, let me know and I'll update it.
My personal thoughts on Santa Clauses: The generic contract for Sasquatch (along with all other big festivals) include them. These are loosely enforced provisions simply to ensure that the bands on your lineup don't overload the market before your festival. In Sasquatch's case, this mostly means that the bands that play both Coachella and Sasquatch can't tour Seattle in April and then come back a month later for Sasquatch. There will be a few bands that play shows in Seattle before Sasquatch but it won't be a significant number. This year I'm going to try to keep a more exhaustive list of bands playing Seattle between the lineup announcement and Sasquatch so that we have a better idea for next year.
alright that's more than enough for now. If you want to argue about any of this stuff, please do! Assuming anyone else posts in here, this is going to look a lot like the Coachella board. If that's not your thing, just avoid the topic. I think speculating about this stuff is a ton of fun (and hopefully others do too) so I wanted a topic to post all sorts of completely unsubstantiated guesses
