www.grammy.com/nomineesSkrillex is now a 3 time grammy nominee Kanye was not nominated for album of the year (MBDTF was eligable this year because the nominating period is weird) Weird nominees all the way around. They got some stuff incredibly right (Bon Iver for Song and Record of the Year, Decemberists nominated twice for down by the water) and some stuff unbelievably wrong (this is normal). Not legacy acts in the album of the year category is a nice change (unless you count foo fighters in the requisite rock slot).

Skrillex is now a 3 time grammy nominee I've never paid attention to the grammys before, and I don't think I'll start now.

There *was* nothing wrong with it... until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.

Does it really count as a nomination if it's best remix and it's his song remixed by someone else?
Also, I clearly know nothing about Grammys. What is the difference between record of the year and song of the year? 4/5 of of the nominations are the same.

one is a songwriting award and the other is a performance award
and I'm not going to look again but i thought skrillex was nominated for remixing someone else's song?

Also, since when is Bon Iver a "new" artist? 5 years isn't really new. More importantly, how are Mumford and Sons still getting nominations from an album that came out in 09?!?!??!?!

Also, since when is Bon Iver a "new" artist? 5 years isn't really new. We were just talking about that! While the Grammy's do this with someone each year (see Imogen Heap) this one is pretty funny. We were thinking it's because they were heavily involved in some pretty huge hip-hop this year. Maybe it brought them to the attention of some Grammy voting types who wouldn't have otherwise known of them? I sincerely doubt thete's Grammy voters on the lawn at 'squatch.

Maybe because the new album is on a major label? Do they even acknowledge independent releases?

"To be eligible for Best New Artist, an artist has to have simply never won a Grammy before, have released at least one album (but not more than three), and have not been entered for Best New Artist more than three times (even as a member of a group)." Weird.
