Fuck yes to Frank Ocean. Also really enjoyed Big K.R.I.T, Kendrick Lamar, and Danny Brown, but I have a lot to listen to before the end of the year. On a side note, what is the deal with Lil' B? Every time I bring him up the response I get is , "oh you just don't get it, you don't understand based music.." or what ever. You're right, I don't get it, because it doesn't sound like music to me, please explain. I realize you guys have probably already had this argument some where , but I missed it.

By the way, I'm guessing I'm the only one on the board who has listened to Travis Barker's new album? As far as enjoyable albums go, this is probably top ten for me.
PS: He's the drummer for Blink 182.

If you're genuinely curious, listen to his album I'm Gay which is by far the most consistent thing he's done. Arguments about Lil B tend to devolve quickly because the people who love him REALLY love him and the people who hate him REALLY hate him. I find what he's doing to be pretty enjoyable but it takes a lot of work to sift through all the shit he puts out for the worthwhile stuff. If nothing else his beat selection has been stellar. His rapping style is unique and he's really good at what he does. Whether or not what he does has merit is a different question. Here are two of my favorite tracks of his

Atmosphere's new album is good, but I wouldn't call it top 50 material.

Lil B : Rap :: Robert Pollard : Rock
Also he samples Jo Hisaishi's Spirited Away soundtrack on I'm Gay. Unreal.

Which hip hop albums were worth mentioning this year? The Throne, maybe Drake, maybe Lil B...? I liked Curren$y's album. I don't know, I guess I just don't listen to enough. Shabazz Palaces put out the best hip hop record by a mile this year and may even be my favorite album of the year. So unreal. And their after party show at Pitchfork was hands down the best show I saw this year. And I saw some amazing shows this year.

Oh yeah, I actually forgot about Shabazz Palaces. Too one-note, but still solid.

Holy shit, I totally forgot about Shabazz Palaces as well, fuck.
Also Drew I'm not sure I understand what this means: Lil B : Rap :: Robert Pollard : Rock? And sampling things does not really excite me, it is just too fucking easy nowadays for it to be cool.

How did we forget shabazz? That album is going to be top 5 of the year for me
drew just means that both artists put out a lot of music really quickly and some of it is really good and other stuff is questionable.

I didn't know of its release until a week after the fact.

Also Drew I'm not sure I understand what this means: Lil B : Rap :: Robert Pollard : Rock? They don't have to take the SAT in Canada I guess.

Lil B is the rap version of Robert Pollard of Guided By Voices, i.e., they're incredibly prolific but like cbats said while they're both capable of absolute gold, you have to sift through a lot of shit to find it. Lil B has yet to put together an album of complete gold, whereas Pollard made a few. Though I'm Gay is a step in the right direction. But I'm not going to listen to all of Lil B's mixed tapes to find the good tracks, like I have with Pollard.

Although I understood what he was going for, I legitimately read Jackson Pollack instead of Robert Pollard. I was all confused after that .

We Americans don't 'write' SATs either.

To say that you 'write' a test is distinctly Canadian. In America, one would 'take' a test.

Where do you take them? I think you would score higher if you were to write on them. Lulz
Seriously never knew we said that differently. I have to constantly rethink how I type on this board, it's starting to hurt my brain.
