They're probably the most overrated band on Pitchfork Ugh. Cbats you just kill me.

Oh I was mostly just exaggerating for effect. Pitchfork praises a lot of shit that is horrible (see: that best coast album Pea posted) but they cover Animal Collective the same way they cover radiohead which I think is pretty excessive. I guess drew likes their early stuff but I can't stand anything before Sung Tongs and even then I only think Sung Tongs and Feels are pretty good.

Let's not even pretend that their current reviews read even a little bit better than this.

I'm sampling the Lips' 24 hour song, "7 Skies H3". I say 'sampling' because I know for a fucking fact that I will never listen to the whole thing, and I'd be utterly surprised if literally anyone else in the world ever did, either.
It is fucking terrible. Flat, formless, dull, stupid, boring, dumb. So dumb. Anyway with the next reported Lips album featuring a bunch more stupid, gimmicky collaborations it seems perfectly clear that we'll never hear another note of interesting music from them again.

...just left the house for ten minutes or so and came back; left "7 Skies H3" on while I was gone and came back to it still repeating the same seventy seconds or so of music that I spent ten minutes listening to before I left.

Nice! Really looking forward to this. The first single really surprised me (in a good way).

I'm going to have to disagree solely based on the fact they're collaborating with Deerhoof soon, and Deerhoof can do no wrong.

I like how the two previous posts about this link to the WSJ, but cbats links us to Pitchfork.

I don't believe for a second that anyone else actually got it from the wall street journal blog... and yeah pea, i checked here before i saw the disucssion in the lineup board. Oh well

So for the 2 people who care: Mikael Akerdfeldt of Opeth, and Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree have a collaboration album coming out in April 2012. So excited.

Going to suck so hard. Haha sorry Geno. Steve Wilsons new album is pretty fucking good. Apparently it's going to sound similar to that with a little Opeth influence.

I heard about this album earlier this year, and haven't heard anything about it since. I am looking foreword to hearing what this collaboration is going to sound like.

Metric releasing a new album in early 2012. Freaking awesome. I would bet a bunch of festival appearances will follow.

I've long since resigned myself to the fact that Metric will be at every concert festival I ever attend.
