Janet Weiss left Sleater-Kinney and my soul feels empty. I'm on the verge of tears right now. Any idea what led to this? She plays on the new album and was on the promotional material for the tour, so it seems sudden.

Janet Weiss left Sleater-Kinney and my soul feels empty. I'm on the verge of tears right now. Only way I accept this news if it leads to people finally admitting she's the preeminent drummer of this generation. I feel like at this point the only people in denial about that fact are either the same dudes who think that music peaked in 1970, or people who were born after 2002.

Janet Weiss left Sleater-Kinney and my soul feels empty. I'm on the verge of tears right now. Any idea what led to this? She plays on the new album and was on the promotional material for the tour, so it seems sudden. No details yet, but given the cryptic statement by the band that swears up and down she's still on the new record and the fact that it happened well after tickets for the tour went live leads me to believe that it wasn't amicable. Given that the band has had to literally beg Corin to get into the studio before and the citation of "creative differences" my rampant speculation is that it's mainly a Carrie/Janet fissure. The fact that the second single sounds like it could be backed by a drum machine with no discernible difference is not encouraging. This is like an anti-hype guided missile. Pointing fingers at this point is premature but holy shit, this is a hot mess and makes me genuinely worried about the tour and the album itself.

Had an unexpected gut punch of nostalgia this week; the indie theater I work at is getting Enormous (the Gorge Amphitheater doc) for a one off screening and now the trailer has been added to our lobby broadcast. Tons of Sasquatch footage playing really takes me back, mainstage sets from 2014/2015, whew.
I'll report in if it is worth checking out, I'm assuming it'll get a digital release after this run. Looks like Seattle has some similar one night showings scattered throughout.

Bumbershoot is back from the grave like a slasher movie antag.
Maybe they put together a cool lineup, feels like 2023 is going to have a lot of momentum for festivals in the area.
