That "Teacher" cover was really really great. They were such cool people, too. Before their set (I think before Sam Roberts came on?) I was sitting in the grass with my girlfriend and a few other friends and my girlfriend got a picture with their drummer (whom she miraculously recognized). They were just checking out the shows, havin' a good time. After their set, during whoever was on late-night, their main vocalist was standing behind me, so I shook his hand and told them they were fantastic. He was appreciative and sounded pretty excited to be there.

Mumford & Sons are out. They'll be in the netherlands. Thank god. Thank god is right! They aren't bad but they need to come out with new music before I see them again. The question still remains, who will be sub-headlining this year? I'm pretty indifferent to their music but it's nice to know that the fest won't be wasting whatever excessive amount of money it must cost to book those guys.

Every single one of you (sans HG) fucking loved Mumford & Sons until it became cool to hate them so just shut up all of you. EDIT: And if you say you always hated them then you're fucking lying so don't try it. Agreed I liked them until they became very popular, It the indie hipster in all of us, but I did catch them at Coachella while waiting for The two AC's, and It seemed like a headlining gig, they had the crowd engaged and they put on quite a show. They should of probably subbed be for arcade fire and Animal Collective would have been better suited in one of the tents( no reflection on the AC), I just though the visuals would have been suited for a smaller stage.

I am hoping that Deadmau5 and Skrillex are both left out tomorrow at the release. I saw them both last summer and was bored by Deadmau5 and annoying by Skrillex. I liked both artists prior to seeing them, but for the amount of money itll cost to book them, I really hope they arent at Sasquatch.

I still like Mumford, they're talented guys and at least are making catchy songs that aren't produced on synthesizers and macbooks.

I'm calling bullshit on axing Ghostland Observatory as part of Sasquatch. They're playing both Wakarusa and Electric Forest, I think there is a definite chance they will be at Sas this year.

Fuck Mumford, and those other guys arent even his sons wtf. I like you fig. Mumford has always sucked. The "sons" could do much better. Also, I can't stand banjos. Also also, y'all need to eat more mushrooms and hang out with dudes doing spot on Neil Diamond impressions for the entire duration of The Flaming Lips next time. #4 set of the weekend for me, cake and all.

Nice merge.
Mumford and Sons are meh. I like a couple songs but on the whole they just bore me as a band. Im not entirely opposed to seeing them live, though.
A Flaming Lips live show can be an amazing time. I saw them at the Malkin Bowl in Vancouver in 2010, while they were touring Embryonic, and it was a fucking enjoyable freakout. Wayne does like to talk but it's better when you're at their own show and that's really all your focused on...you just enjoy them as a band and as people and know they're still gonna play a bunch of songs regardless of chatter.
I think deciding to do the Soft Bulletin last year was a bad choice. A much more eclectic set would have been better, catering to more of the crowd and allowing them to pick and choose good songs for the environment and performance length. It's a fucking fantastic album but doesnt translate well to a festival. I saw them at Pemberton when they played a set like that and they killed it...but yeah, when you're tripping at the Gorge and you find that the sunset is more interesting than the Flaming Lips, something is wrong.
Best electronic act for me last year was Bassnectar, regardless of the amusing sound troubles. Great song choices, fun crowd (lol @ glowpocalypse) and just an all around good time. I was tired as shit, burning out from too little E, and hauling a backpack but that was still a high point for me. DJ Anjali and Glitch Mob tied for second. Major Lazer probably wouldve been a good contender but Deerhunter was too tantalizing, and that set blew my goddamn mind. Third favorite performance from last year.
ALSO: Fuck the cake, that shit was a total buzzkill. Also also, a big middle finger to the guy who said he sparked a J with Heems...I didn't have any "star sightings" all weekend, aside from getting my LP signed by Twin Shadow. Closest I got was my buddy spotting Isaac Brock doing double dutches with some other musicians by the trailers near the mainstage (which he later mentioned during one of his intermittent mumblings during MM's set, haha)

I think deciding to do the Soft Bulletin last year was a bad choice. If they would have actually played it through it would have been incredible. Um, have you seen a sunset there? It is more interesting than anything. It is incredible to have a live soundtrack to it. Fuck yeah, glowpocalypse.

Oh, the Gorge's sunsets are among the most gorgeous things I've ever seen, dont get me wrong. I just mean that the FLAMING FUCKING LIPS usually have a very very enticing live presence and effects, which I didn't really get last year. And yeah, the fact that they substituted Gash and Sleeping on the Roof for talk about spiderbites was a disappointment. Especially since, apparently, it wasn't a spiderbite at all but rather an infection from Stephen shooting into veins on his hand...lol. ps. awesome

I think trying to switch it up was a good idea. They played an eclectic set 3 years ago and they'll probably do it again next year. Deerhunter was too tantalizing, and that set blew my goddamn mind. Third favorite performance from last year. So fucking good! I was surprised to not be able to find any discussion of this show on this board. THE best performance I've seen at The Gorge since Bjork in 2007, and it wasn't even in the gorge. Incredible. And the weather was too perfect...I really can't put my love for that set into words.

Don't quit your day job kid. i couldn't figure out what would be the best response for the wonk. i had considered removing your posts from this thread and only your posts... but i wasn't sure how long it'd take for you to catch that. instead, i went with an off-topic yet hilarious proclamation. Win-win! You are giving yourself way too much credit. What happened is you misunderstood my comment at how off topic this thread has became as a personal attack against you, even though it was an Weak Shit Superfan quote which has since been deleted. Then to get back at me, you found a quote from a couple weeks ago which later proved to be less than accurate, and quoted that as a personal attack. That is like thumbing through old posts looking for a typo to quote, then laughing at the typo as some sort of revenge tactic, which I would never do because it is 100% extremely fucking lame. Then you tried to play along with my off-topic/off-topic joke by claiming that was your intention all along. Thus my reply in astonishment at how lame of an attack that was. Comedy, LOL.

I remember reading the pamphlet thing beforehand and there was a quote from like Karen O or someone describing Deerhunter's live show as "a divine experience", and i was like "ummyeah" but that's really what it was. Watching them as evening faded and night came on was bliss. The lights were perfect, too. Just...gah. Great. Favorite show was Modest Mouse, just because, well, yeah. That was a perfect experience. And second was DFA because that was one of the funnest pits I've been a part of.

Looking back on the lightning before they came on...I will forever associate Deerhunter with the color purple after that night. Modest Mouse was nearly as good, but all my friends stood up in front of me and left for Ratatat during Dramamine of all songs, which only slightly hindered the experience for me. My Sasquatch 2011 recap looks like this: 1. Deerhunter 2. Robyn 3. Modest Mouse 4. Flaming lips 5. Wilco Five of the best experiences of my life.
