Yeah, I'm gonna pass on that one. Here's hoping Lykke Li or The Roots come through Calgary. Last year the week before Squamish was nuts in Calgary. Macklemore, QOTSA and Vampire Weekend all played.
Eminem blows live btw. Plays almost no old stuff and has a really brutal backing track.

I'd almost consider a hotel or staying with some people I sort of know. Or offsite campgrounds. The first year when they didn't have camping I slept on a friend of a friend's couch and it was only a 30 minute drunken stumble to the venue. Hardly more than the walk at Sasquatch. I'd be into looking at different camping options, it would certainly make this fest seem more doable for me. It's even cheaper than onsite camping for me to consider staying at the Fairmont in Whistler and taking the shuttle down each day... not that I'd really want to though. Half the charm of music fests for me is the camping.

So much for me considering Squeamish (not changing that awesome auto-correct) this year. That lineup is pretttty darn bad. I absolutely need to see Boys Noize again soon though. God I hope he's at Maysquatch.

I'm kind of glad the line-up for squamish is underwhelming. Makes the choice between it and sasquatch that much easier.
It would have been cool to see Eminem but one headliner does not make up for the lack of depth in the overall lineup.

Eminem blows live btw. Plays almost no old stuff and has a really brutal backing track. Well that blows. I'm still probably going to this as a friend is flying in from England for 10 days around Squamish. I'm really struggling to pick out enough to even got moderately excited about.

Hopefully the bands they add to the festival help round out the mid card. Otherwise it feels...disappointing.

What's the point of even announcing the lineup when half is yet to come? They did theirs before Sasquatch and both Squatches happen earlier than Squamish for eff's sake.
The sad part is, this isn't an underwhelming lineup for a lot of people. There's gonna be so much teenage girl at this festival it ain't even funny.

I think this has turned into a camping weekend on a lake nearby and if theres a cheaper day pass we can go into the fest.

Ugh, up until now they had other people doing the booking (Brand.LIVE I think). Live Nation must have just thrown a bunch of money at some big names and said "Now this is how you make a festival!"
The just interviewed the booking agent on the radio and he sounded like the biggest dumbass, but I might be biased here.

That would be brand.LIVE's fault for letting their festival get taken over by literally the worst concert organizer in the country, so they could line their pockets at the expense of the festival's integrity.

yeah no
uh what
I mean, at the end of the day I'm just bitchin', and I don't mean to take away from the fact there's some great bands on the lineup and that more are to be announced - but yeah, disappointing use of resources. Instead of building a strong lineup top to bottom, one that's keeping in with the tone of previous incarnations of the festival, we're seeing extremely expensive headliners and a meh undercard. Not to mention that one of those headliners is undoubtedly past his prime, and another is a complete shift away from the usual lineup the festival presents. At least in my view.
waaah waah waah, essentially.
/begins fantasizing about Pemberton lineup that just shakes the shit outta squamsquam's

Werd bro, super werd. Even if I could go this year I wouldn't be and that's very sad to me because I enjoyed this fest so much last year. I'm sad that something that seemed to be very spirit of BC-y has instead turned into a shitty cash-grab.

I mean, the undercard isn't horrible and I don't want to make it sound like they're all crappy bands 'cause they're not, it's just underwhelming since I've already seen most of the ones that might interest me and the others are either not my style of radio station or are just the small/local fare typically used to fill things up. But it's the shift in headliners that are clearly just meant to be cash-grab names and the fact that it feels like they've completely abandoned the tone this festival had previously set for itself that really irks me. It's as if they're launching an entirely new fest and just trying to piggy-back on the name and following Squamish had started to cultivate. And also using the idea of this already being an established fest to justify huge price hikes.

We were totally in each others brains there... we would`ve even posted at the same time if I didn`t spend five minutes trying to figure out why my keyboard won`t do quotation marks anymore (they were gonna go around the word established).

Taking a look at yer apostrophes I'd Dr. Garbanzoure you got a problemo of "french keyboard" on yer hands. (God it's going to be embarrassing when they lift the Fig and see that I've been typing Dr. Garbanzo this whole time.)
