I thought the whole point of statuatory rape was that consent didn't matter.

My girlfriend was 17 when I met her. I know those rules like the back of my hand.

Apparently the accuser has recanted the underage part. He said it was consensual between two adults in the article Dr. Garbanzo posted.

Apparently the accuser has recanted the underage part. He said it was consensual between two adults in the article Dr. Garbanzo posted. I don't see how he can do that, it isn't like he said "oh yeah, I was actually of age when that happened" he just said he now says it was between adults. I can't keep track of all the different sex rules between states, but if he says he was 16 when it happened, and if the state he was in says that's against the law, then calling yourself an adult doesn't change anything. Unless I'm misreading this and when he said it was an adult relationship, he means he was actually the age of an adult and not 16.

Clash never denied having some kind of relationship with the accuser before he was 18, just that he did not have sex with him until he was 18. Now the accuser is saying that is true. "Consenting adults" means over 18.

In that case it makes sense, the lack of actual numbers made me think they just changed the wording and all the sudden that made it ok.

One time I slept with a 17 year old when I was 19. Then, six months later Idaho passed the "3-year rule" which means if it happened today, I would be legally fine but when it did happen, I was a rapist.
Guys, am I a rapist?

I didn't trust this story from the beginning because, as someone who has been raped, I went to the police about being victimized. I didn't go to the guy's work 7 years later to file a complaint. I don't understand the logic of going to Sesame Street.

I don't understand the logic of going to Sesame Street. Yeah, it seems more like a plea for attention. It's not like he was trying to blackmail him or anything, either.

In Canada the age of consent is 16 so what I did was totally legal while what you did was against the law and therefore you should be rotting in a jail cell right now. The fact that you are roaming the streets right now scares the crap out of me and I feel dirty for not calling the police right now You sir are everything that is wrong with the world and should feel like one of the worst human beings on the face of the earth. That you are even asking if what you did was ok makes me afraid for every child that has ever gone through the American education system. TL:DR: Yes.
