While I guess I appreciate the sentiment, these attacks are useless. They did nothing more than shut down a few completely unimportant websites. At the very best the media will misconstrue this as a gross over-estimation of the internets power (oooh hackerz). At the worst it could completely ruin any sort of credibility we may have gained from the blackout yesterday.

dead is a strong word. It will be back in some form and they'll try to keep it from getting this much attention in the future. Hopefully the opposition doesn't get too complacent with this victory because it will be short lived

If there is one thing that can mobilize this apathetic age group in which I reside, it is fucking with the internet. Now if only these fuckers realized what Citizens United was doing to the country... movetoamend.org/A country where corporations are considered people and their money is considered free speech, is not a democratic republic. Two years ago today the foundation of the United States was sufficiently eroded to put us, the people, in a position as close as possible to irrelevance. Supreme Justice Powell laid the groundwork for it with his corporatism and his legacy lives on in the SCOTUS.

Alright! The Washington State gay marriage bill passed. It's always nice to be reminded that I live in a pretty sweet part of the country.

The interesting thing is when people get married where gay marriage is legal and then move to get another country/state where gay marriage isn't legal and try to get divorced.
Good for Washington though, the rest will slowly come around.

What the fuck is wrong with the rest of them? Pieces of shit like this exist who have had three wives and have cheated on them and believe that homosexuality ruins the sanctity of marriage. That's what's wrong with the rest of them. Oh and this guy might be running against Obama in the next election. AMERICA!

The bill hasn't passed yet and right now they've only cleared the hurdle by 1 vote. I fully expect it to pass but there are still a ton of formalities to go through. The larger fight is going to be when an initiative is placed on the ballot and it's given to the voters. I honestly have no idea how that is going to turn out

Pieces of shit like this exist who have had three wives and and have cheated on them and believe that homosexuality ruins the sanctity of marriage. That's what's wrong with the rest of them. Oh and this guy might be running against Obama in the next election. AMERICA! Exactly. Though it seems that the general masses (or the loud and lobbying masses) can justify that bullshit with fear mongering claims of what is and what is not natural. Hetero marriage may have it's share of problems but at least it's "natural". Sure. The fact is that at this point in time where the statistics show we are on an exponential population growth that will see the end of many of the resources we have aloud ourselves to be entirely dependent upon, having children is actually only a natural part toward our human extinction or at least toward a monumental collapse that will end civilization as we know it. Very narural. Now I'm not saying that er'body who has kids is a reckless monster who has just pounded the proverbial nail in the coffin a little closer in. It's just, the more and more that we accept love into this world and accept gay marriage, the more we grow away from fear and toward compassion and possibly begin to acknowledge a natural equilibrium that has been trying to establish itself for centuries. Which means I'm not saying that gay couples are here on this earth to not have children. Just that if our culture were more accepting of pure love and not with what we have dictated what love should be able to do (ie. produce children) then possibly we would all together (gay and straight) have a better understanding of what love and life is all about and not view it in such a "keeping up with the Jones'" type way.

That video hits home for me. I have never mentioned this before but my mom is a lesbian. I grew up listening to people tell me that gay people are disgusting, unequal, hellbound perversions of society. I had to try to make sense of why my mom, my family, was somehow different in the eyes of so many. It's a whole different perspective when you live with it every day and have to deal with the hatred and ignorance on a daily basis.
