So, they say "2 Unique Experiences". Which for me translates into "2 different line-ups, and we're splitting the good acts across both weekends SO YOU NEED TO BUY TICKETS TO BOTH!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Unrelated, as I've given the new deadmau5 album a couple of listens, it's growing on me. A lot more than Bassnectar's latest effort which feels kinda flat compared to Divergent Spectrum.

Some dude I know on Facebook posted a video of some band doing a pretty convincing live re-creation of some Skrillex song. One of his lil' buddies was like, Dude! How is he making that guitar do the bass drop like that?
It's a fucking bass guitar, dude. People used to drop the bass with those things, like, a couple times a month even.
I'd go dig up the video, but that requires more energy than I think I'm willing to expend for an anecdote that involves Skrillex.

I know the vid you're talking about. The bass player does have a glove on his fret hand and some device on his other thumb that does some kind of dubstep feedback wubwubwub effect.

Yeah, those are called 'guitar pedals'. I used to know a guy that had two of those!

And if that glove doesn't do anything specific to the sound, that bass player is the biggest douchenozzle known to music........ next to Fred Durst anyways.

Upon further research the thing on his thumb is actually a midi player that runs through a pedal to make that sound. Pretty neat. And upon finding some other videos the kid actually has some talent.
Now he just needs to lose the glove and the dubstep.

This is why Skrillex is one of the greatest living guitarists Yeah, after mastering the bass guitar he went on to invent dubstep. Pretty awesome!

Was Armin as amazing as you thought he would be? I heard something about some technical issues during his set.

I didn't stay for all of his set, so I'm pretty sure I missed that part. By 3:30am I was pretty drained so I got out of there. I kept thinking to myself though, "God damn. This guy really knows how to tell a story with his music!" Whatever that means, but yea he was pretty incredible.

I'm really digging Seven Lions right now. He has kind of picked up the genre label trance-step. He does a lot of dub-step remixes of trance songs.

The more I reflect on AvB's Freaknight set, the more depressed I get about how late he played and how fizzled out I was by that time. He was fucking incredible, and it was one of the most well-constructed and beautiful electronic sets I've ever heard. I hope to got he plays Coachella this year so I'll have another chance to catch him.
I wonder when/if Sasquatch will ever snag a big name trance artist...

I keep hearing Calvin Harris is a great dj, so I went out and downloaded a bunch of his live sets. Some are exactly the same, and the ones that aren't exactly the same, are still pretty close to exactly the same. It almost makes me wonder if he is even djing at all or just running a playlist.
Besides that, I can see Calvin Harris playing Sasquatch. He seems to fit the bill.
