I don't think radiohead will play more than two US festivals. They're picky dudes.
Bad news: I have to bow out of the first weekend. St. Mary's has their two most important events of the year on that Saturday and Sunday, and I'm helping to organize both. I'm going to try to trade my tickets for second weekend tickets, though, so if anyone is going second weekend, let me know.

I guess I'll have to go back to trolling you since we won't be hanging out that weekend.

Too bad drew; you'll be missed. I would say that I'll have a drink for you, but, um, that's a given. In fact, I'll have at least a couple of drinks for the entire board, but who's counting?
In any event, I'm totally looking forward to Coachella since it comes before Sasquatch and for most of you, it'll be the next time I get to see you in person.

It's a bummer but I still get to go to coachella, just not with y'all. And Sasquatch is still in the plans.

I doubt more than 10,000 people will be attending both weekends of the festival. Therefore, they really are tryng to sell 50,000+ more tickets than usual, so it makes sense to make the festival a bit more top heavy. Therefore, I'm going to believe this Radiohead claim holds water. This is my logic as to why I think it will be Daft Punk. They are definitely going to need a massive act to get that big of a crowd to go. The Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and Coldplay aren't going to sell 120,000 tickets. The only acts with that big of a festival draw IMO would be Daft Punk, Radiohead.....and maybe Bowie. Maybe the Stones as well. Thats about it.

IMO they need more than 1 or 2 huge acts to sell the thing out. I dont know how most people decide if they are going to a fest or not, but if I am going to take a lot of time off work and travel far (which I would have to for Coachella) I would like to see at least 10 acts I flip my shit for. 2011 really didnt do it for me. Most of the headliners and subs I had either seen or didnt have a huge interest in. The undercard was pretty solid, but not worth taking 2 weeks off work and spending about 1500 bucks on.
The real question is, what are all these bands going to do for the week in between? It almost seems like there will be a mini Coachella around Cali as all the bands try to fill out their week with other shows.

I could see smaller bands touring in a little loop through the week that both starts and ends in LA.

I can say that for us, we're super excited about the two week thing because we're going to try to book as many bands as possible in the time between. I imagine all the venues in the area will be doing the same.

I changed my mind. Something tells me Daft Punk will once again elude Coachella, but Radiohead seems pretty painfully obvious. They haven't done shit since TKOL came out (sans Glastonbury) and headlining both weekends just makes too much since.
I'm sniffing a Coldplay slot more and more as well.

Headliners cannot play SoCal, so they have Las Vegas, San Francisco/Mountain View, and Phoenix/Tucson to play at in between weekends.
Non-headliners can do whatever the hell they want, like play San Diego or Los Angeles. Most will probably schedule dates, but some will just vacation, with or without families, like they normally do.

Fascinating, Captain, and logical too. As usual thank you for using your expansive worldly knowledge to enlighten and entertain us all. Damn, cats as slick as you make me really really sad I missed Vegoose [07].

Vegoose's final night 1-2 headliner punch was just re-created at a National Historical Landmark in Los Angeles, CA, curated by Rage Against The Machine, but of course no one here attended (besides yours truly, me). Muse playing a full set succeeded by the visceral Rage Against The Machine. Paled in comparison to having the other festival artists that graced the fields in 2007, namely Daft Punk and Iggy & The Stooges (M.I.A., QOTSA, Thievery Corporation, Atmosphere, Ghostland Observatory, Gogol Bordello, The Shins), but it was fun and a must-see for sure.
Cheers.
