I loved Cold War Kids; their performance wasn't anything special I suppose but they sounded good and I love most of their songs so I was dancing around to it.
I honestly did not care much for DFA1979 though. I was coming out of a pretty rough drunk but I figured that would make me wanna jump around and act crazy to them even more but man, they really did not sound too great to me.

AN OPEN LETTER FROM I8 TO SAM BEAM
Dear Sam Beam,
I love your new album. I love your old albums. You have done a lot of awesome songs, and you have put on some awesome shows. I was absolutely thrilled to see you.
So let me be perfectly clear here: That was not the time and place. I really enjoy what you're doing these days, and the general arc your music has taken, but that was not the time and place for you to experiment with prolonged instrumental dicking around. And I couldn't hear your voice well enough.
If you ever play Sasquatch again, I'll do you the favor of writing your setlist. Your only job is to play every song on it. I'll take care to time it perfectly according to the time allotted to you, thus ensuring that you will not pull that shit again.
Love, I8
P.S. Dude thank you so much for playing "Walking Far From Home."

So glad I stayed for all of the Thermals. It was a very tough call.

The Bronx fucking sucked and played for what seemed like four hours. Not that I thought they would be any good, but I'm just doing what Stamper asked.

The Bronx were a fond memory by the time I was putting up with DFA. Fuck dude, as much as I knew I was going to hate that shit, I was still surprised by how shitty they were.

So glad I stayed for all of the Thermals. It was a very tough call. CWAS, I was right in the middle of this as well...I had never seen them before, so I was overdue and had to stay the whole set. I was not disappointed. Met a South African dude there and partied with him and his crew for a bunch of different sets all weekend. Haha, come to think of it, I actually crowd surfed at the Thermals for, like the first time in 12 years. And probably for the last time, too.

Brad that sounds like nothing but awesome times! Get out of here with your crowd surfin' positivity and sweet bands. At least tell us your South African friend had bad breath, or that some dude gave you a charlie horse while crowd surfin', or change "not disappointed" to "disappointed". I'm just failing to see the hate here.
PS - I went to get food at the Yeti and wound up catching a bunch of The Thermals because they were AWESOME!!!!!!! But the chicken strips sucked!!!! Well actually, no they didn't, not at all. Anyone else have them? Great peppery crispy crunch! Damn, Brad is right. It's tough to find the hate at Sasquatch.
Oh wait, DFA 1979. Haaaaaaaaaated it!

I wish I remembered DFA1979. I thought that they were great, but I was pretty shit-canned by that point. It seems odd to ask seeing as I was in the pit and should know, but what didn't people like about them?

I didn't like DFA at all. They certainly fit into Loud Friday. I don't really think it had much to do with that set specifically, I just don't think I am into that thing.

I liked DFA a lot. I was also in the pooper pit with the juvenile boys who had never heard DFA before. I just like their music and rage.

I'm fairly certain the area we were sitting at on the hill absolutely killed the sound quality, unless they actually had issues with their sound. But other than that, it just didn't click with me I guess.

Friendly D, I think say you may have misinterpreted my post - I had a fantastic time at the Thermals, they were one of my top ten performances. I brought it up in this thread (which maybe I shouldn't have) as ComesWithA Sword mentioned them before me. I had to stay the whole set as I would not let myself miss out on the Thermals, and I was aboslutely correct in staying and Crowdsurfing!!!! I realized quickly I am just a little too heavy to crowdsurf like when I was 17; that is why I wouldnt do it again If I had disappointments, I would say Foster the People, S.Carey was boring, and I was admittedly disappointed my the Flaming Lips. They were the number 1 band I went to see, so it may have been hard to live up to those expectations.

DFA was a miss for me as well. I tried to get into them more before heading to Sasquatch because I know they have really devout fans and there wasn't anything else to choose from on Friday night. It never really clicked. I much prefer the body of work put out by MSTRKRFT.

Fuck are you guys serious? DFA was great. Unless you guys were sittin on the hill or something I don't see how you guys could think that. I was in the pit and it was awesome.

Dude can scream. I'll give him that. But that music is utterly mindless and just fucking boring. I WAS watching from the hill, but that's because it took all of thirty seconds to decide that they weren't worth expending any amount of energy for.
Oh hey though, Foo Fighters were fucking great. Dave Grohl is an amazing bandleader and a truly generous performer. Loved the shit out of that set.

I'm a DFA fan and I wasn't that into it either. Sound was bad even in the pit. I'm ready for a new album.

Foo Fighters were fucking great! But you know who did suck? The asshole parents who had a problem with Cat and I sitting behind them during their set. No lie, this small group of douchebags were all up in a roar cuz we found a small piece of real estate behind them on one of those pieces of rock just above the pit - ya know what i'm talking about? - they were on the grass and we were sitting on the rock wall like 6 feet behind and 5 feet above them. (for the record, they had a couple giant blankets laid out - and well more than enough room to accommodate their retarded group)
they were like, 'don't sit there. we've been here since 4:30! we may want to lean back and sit up there later.' i was like, 'dude. you don't own this entire quarry. we're not even in your way. chill out.' and some other fuckstick was like, 'you should probably leave. he's bigger than you.' and i was like, 'i don't give a fuck how big he is. all i'm doing is sitting on a rock. you need to calm the fuck down.' and these two geriatrics got involved, 'you're being really annoying right now.' and i was like, 'me? i'm not doing anything but trying to mind my own business? who the fuck are you? shut up. this has nothing to do with you.' They quickly shut up.
once the small group realized we weren't going anywhere, they changed their tone. 'we just don't want you kicking our kids in the back of the head with your legs.' (they had like 2 tween girls who really didn't even give a shit that Foo Fighters were even about to play)
to which i replied, 'seriously? you think i'm going to kick a child? in the back of the head? who does that? how bout you turn around and watch the show. you won't even notice we're here. It's totally cool. I promise not to kick your kids.'
it was around that time Cat and the mother got into a heated discussion about parenting skills. The woman had been smoking and exhaling all over her kids, yet she was all concerned about Cat and I interfering with their children.
Cat quickly put that bitch in check. Don't fuck with a redhead, folks. they's feisty!
They pretty much left us alone after that.
What fucking fuckheads.
