As sad as it is to say i would rather have the reunion band be Blink 182 than Janes Addiction...

hahaha wow i actually agree. that is so sad.
the only way Jane's Addiction will be cool is if Dave Navarro comes to party in the campsite.

I think I pretty much agree with everybody here....Kinks would be great, White Stripes could save the day, NIN would bring out creepy people/be kind of annoying, jane's addiction is decidedly not legendary. Honestly though, looking back at past lineups, I really have a sense of optimism that the promoters are going to come through and do something like...have NIN/JA on main stage the 1st night, but have a great band headlining the 2nd stage to get us from stop complaining, and give us great headliners the other nights. But if it's Ben Harper a 2nd night, and KoL headline the 3rd....that is just weak. Fingers crossed that we get Arcade Fire or someone else out of left field...Sufjan...Blur...

Totally agree. To be honest there aren't a ton of bands I'd love to see that would be considered headliner material. I'm really counting on a solid undercard. I know most will disagree, but with all the rumored headliners, I really won't mind if KOL is one of them. I'm not a big fan of their last 2 albums, but Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak are both fantastic. If they play a 1.5 or 2 hour set it'll mean a better chance of hearing more of their old material.
And yes I'm sure there will be a few bands that no one has talked about at all. Most years everyone's guesses/rumors usually turn out to be only about 1/3 of the actual lineup.

i hope not msbands, but the more i think about it the more i think it's going to happen. especially with no doubt's tour schedule release being delayed with no explanation. go on their site's message board, they're waiting for it to drop any time.

So Trent Reznor announced a NIN/Jane's tour today. Given that both are practically confirmed now, could this mean that NIN will subhead jane's and we could have an as yet unknown headliner?

if for some reason no doubt headlines, no worries, i'll just go chill at the dance tent or another stage. it's pretty much 99% certain that the "reunion band" rumored is jane's addiction, so hopefully we don't have to worry about no doubt taking a headlining spot.

If you step into 1996, you will also find every Sasquatch headliner since 2005. That's certainly a valid point, but I think there's something you're not considering: Yes, REM and The Cure and the Flaming Lips existed in the 1990's, but they all started in the 80's and have continued to put out records over the past twenty years. They are consistently GOOD musicians, and they manage to stay relevant -- ESPECIALLY the Lips. On the other hand, Jane's Addiction's sound is SOLIDLY based in the 90's. It could not have existed in the 80's, nor in this decade. NIN is so firmly a part of the goth industrial whatfuckingever scene of 90's Hot Topic that I am honestly mystified that they have any new fans in 2009. As far as I'm concerned, Sasquatch might as well have booked Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit. Except Jane's Addiction put out two albums in the 80's, which including two of their biggest hits, the Mountain Song, and Jane Says. They put out two albums in the 90s, the first was in 1990, an album mostly written and recorded in 1989, the second in 1997, a rarities complilation including songs from the 80s, or live versions of songs performed in 1990. Their last album was a half reunion which came out in 2003. It is easier to argue that they did absolutely nothing in the 90s over their sound is SOLIDLY based in the 90s. As for existing this decade, most full reunion bands have not put out much lately, that is the definition of reunion. With Satellite Party and the Red Hot Chili Peckers, it is enough to say they have remained somewhat relevant. As for Marilyn Manson, fuck yeah, that would be sick.

Even though I'm sure it's not going to happen, I'm still going to keep hoping that Pavement is going to be the "legendary band with all original members", but, unfortunately it will probably be Jane's Addiction.

Someone made a comment on Dustin's predictions on the blog tonight saying that they got a newsletter saying Ben Harper will be at Sasquatch! Does anyone know more about this?

Oh sweetadeline, I can confirm Elliott Smith will not attend Sasquatch this year.
NIN, Jane's Addiction, Ben Harper, and Kings of Leon have been the highest rumored headliners over the past four days. It will probably happen.
