If Tool plays Friday, I'll just show up Saturday. Not a big deal. ;D
I'd actually be into Jane's Addiction. And I think they'd be a good fit for Sasquatch. They're a heritage act, if you will.
Not sure if you guys heard, but Langerado fest got cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Some great bands in their lineup, but ultimately (IMO) it was too schizophrenic to attract a particular audience who are willing to travel to see a particular type of band...it lacked cohesion. I think if Sasquatch wants to beat the odds this year, they have to focus on their strengths - all those great Pacific Northwest bands.

Here is a good rumor, Franz Ferdinand announced a partial tour. They are playing alot of festivals and there are some blank dates in the US around Sasquatch. No date out of the US till May 30th, maybe a Sasquatch close? Apr 4 - Coliseo de Atarfe Granada, Granada Apr 15 - Fox Theater, Oakland, California (tix) Apr 17 - Coachella Indio, California May 07 - Roseland Ballroom, NY, NY May 30 - Jelling Festival Jelling www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2009/02/franz_ferdinand_20.htmlThey are playing the Paramount in Seattle on April 13th, it is doubtful they will play Sasquatch! this year.

There's a festival in Liverpool - the Sound City Festival, which is around the same weekend as Sasquatch. Their Line-up is not out yet either, but it is far more likely that The Hold Steady will be playing there, rather than here in the Pacific NW, given their tour dates. www.liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk/Which sucks, btw

Whoa. The lineup for Bonnaroo is quite solid. Sasquatch better have an amazing lineup, or I might just be going to Bonnaroo. Sure, I'd have to deal with annoying jam band fans (okay, sorry, not ALL jam band fans are annoying, but most are...), but it's a pretty sweet lineup otherwise and a 4 hour drive from Charleston is a lot easier than a 5 hour plane ride to Washington. Sasquatch is a great NW tradition and regardless of who plays, it is always an awesome time. That being said, after seeing the Bonnaroo lineup, if I lived in Charleston, I would definitely be at Bonnaroo before Sasquatch.

I could totally see The Hold Steady there, but if we lose them to some fest in the UK, I won't be terribly upset.
Langerado had an amazing line-up.
NO LILY ALLEN, PLEASE.

I think Langerado got cancelled this year because they moved a camping festival to a dirty city, where people would have to pay for hotels, and drive all f***ed up from venue to venue. does not sound like fun, and Death Cab headlining, really? poor line-up.-- Oh yeah, there's this band called, The Phish, thats having some kind of re-union thingy a couple hours away, on the same weekend, might have something to do with it? Sasquatch will be fine, guaranteed. A great line-up would only be a bonus, even if its mediocre the gorge itself is a major selling point. oh and our line-up pretty much has to be better than coachella, at least the headliners.

Another band I would love to see back at sasquatch is The Hives, I think they had one of the better sets last year.

The Hives won't come back 2 for this year, mostly because I believe they're working on a new album. The Hives were awesome though.

I have this strange hunch that we are gonna get elvis costello... I'm totally with you on that. We know Adam Zacks is a big fan from creeping his Facebook.

Not holding my breath though. 05/18 - Bournemouth, UK @ BIC 05/19 - Nottingham, UK @ Royal Centre 05/21 - Brixton, UK @ Academy 05/30 - Hunter Mountain, NY @ Mountain Jam

Does anyone know how often Bonnaroo artists also play Sasquatch? Costello isn't headlining there, so I would say that he is a reasonable headlining possibility, especially when Adam Zacks' Facebook is taken into consideration.
Also, does anyone know anything more about how much weight the MGMT rumor has?

As far I know the MGMT rumour isn't anything but speculation. I do believe though that they intended to play last year but had to back out because of touring conflicts. Bonnaroo 2008 was kind of like MGMT's coming out party, so I figure maybe they just plan to do a couple of festival one-offs while working on new material. Again though, just speculation.

Bonnaroo 2008? Really? Cuz I saw them at Coachella last year and the tent was packed.

I've been somewhat following this thread, so sorry if this has already been mentioned... What are the chances of Okkervil river making another appearance? Checking their website I can't access tour dates, but I know they have a new album coming out soon and are planning on doing festivals this year.

Okkervil River played last year, but I missed them and would LOVE to see them there this year.
Also, Bloc Party is playing two dates in Seattle this spring. Not that there was any speculation regarding them in this thread, but we can probably rule them out as a possibility.

I missed them last year too because of the sudden, unexpected conflict with the National, so I'd love for them to return as well.

I was reminded this by a friend: Sasquatch isn't just about Seattle. From what he said over half of tickets to Sasquatch sold aren't even in the Seattle area.

Completely ignoring the post above me, I realize that Sub Pop artists aren't usually anything for NW fans to get super worked up about, but what do people think about a few of them being on the bill? A bunch of them have new albums out and many of them are touring this Spring. I haven't looked very deeply into them, but:
Band of Horses Blitzen Trapper - New album and touring this Spring Fleet Foxes - Touring this Spring Helio Sequence - Touring this Spring Iron & Wine - New album Mudhoney - New album and touring this Spring The Shins The Thermals Wolf Parade
I would love to see any of these artists there; better yet, a combination of multiple. Again, I didn't really research any of these as true possibilities or not. All this info was found on Sub Pop's Website.

A couple local bands from Portland that might be able to fill out the Yeti stage:
Dimes, Mimicking Birds, and Horsefeathers. Mimicking Birds are actually opening for Modest Mouse this spring, nice gig.
A couple larger NW bands who could fill late slots on the Wookie, or early slots main stage, I believe each have been mentioned previously.
Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper, Menomena, Helio Sequence, and the Thermals. Are the Thermals too punk for Sasquatch? They have never played. EDIT: Three bands were also mentioned in the post above that wasn't posted before my writing.
Any guesses on the hip hop acts this year? One mention of Murs recently, I agree, especially since his Langerado festival performance is now cancelled.
As for the dance tent, I do not think it will happen. If you want to catch electronic/dance music, you can at most of the other larger festivals. Electronic/Dance music tend to draw a younger, less intelligent crowd, one thing that makes the Coachella board so unbearable.
