To help go against the "everyone here is from NW myth", I'm from Charleston, SC (were you usually have to drive at least 5 hours to get to a place that has good music).
Which brings me to the fact that I wish they'd just announce the lineup ASAP (if it's for sure finalized as stated before on this thread). My entire summer schedule is depending on this lineup. And the earlier I buy plane tickets, the cheaper they are. I don't know if I can wait till late February. Anybody have any info on what this years lineup announcement date will be?
Last year's lineup was amazing, and had basically every band I could ever want to see. Sadly, I found that out right after laying down the money for Pitchfork last year (which I don't regret, as that festival was pretty fantastic as well).
So back to the topic at hand, daddy wants some Stephen Malkmus & Jicks this year (or a Pavement reunion, or both).

I think it's usually announced around the 3rd week of February, roughly. But with the craziness of the Coachella and Langerado lineup announcements this year who knows?
Well SM & the Jicks were there last year, but a Pavement reunion would be epic. That being said, if Coachella couldn't afford them, I highly doubt Sasquatch can.
I'm with everyone who supports Pearl Jam / KOL day. I'd say that would be feasible.
I dunno about some of these other comments..it's starting to sound like the Coachella board around here.

Here are a few other names that may be touring around Sasquatch and are possibilities: - Chairlift (band with that annoying handstand ipod commercial song) - opening for Peter, Bjorn & John - Flosstradamus Sat 05/23/09 12th Annual ETD POP Festival Daly City CA - After some research I realized ETD POP is a big electronic festival near San Fran. So perhaps they could snag some of these acts for a dance tent(?) and from this site: www.windishagency.com/avails a bunch more possibilities.. - Cornelius - Dan Deacon - Dave Seaman (not really sasq. material, unless there is a dance tent) - Dirty Projectors - Fever Ray - Fujiya & Miyagi - Holy Fuck - Jose Gonzalez - King Khan & the Shrines - Lykki Li - Peanut Butter Wolf - Royksopp - The Field - The Sea and Cake

I for some reason didn't even consider King Khan & the Shrines (or King Khan & BBQ), but now that seems like a great idea and I hope happens.
As far as Pavement goes, I'd buy a ticket for anywhere anytime to that reunion.

No offense, but hearing people throw around names like 311, Pepper, No Doubt, and Guns n' Roses scares the living bejesus out of me. I'm not sure if I'm alone on this, but past bands like these (ex. Ozomotli) seem to bring a lot of people that only go to see one band, and attempt to make the festival a hell-hole for the rest of us.

I think some people are going to the wrong festival!

But what the hell, even fans of good music manage to be completely obnoxious motherfuckers. Exhibit A: The two or three hundred people in the crowd yelling "COWBOY DAN!" between every song of Modest Mouse's set. Though I've noticed this happens at, well, every Modest Mouse show...

Well SM & the Jicks were there last year, but a Pavement reunion would be epic. That being said, if Coachella couldn't afford them, I highly doubt Sasquatch can. I was thinking this over during my morning espresso, and though I initially shared this opinion with you, that if Coachella couldn't afford them Sasquatch couldn't, I realized that must be erroneous because there's no way Pavement is asking more than say REM or Beastie Boys or Ben Harper, etc, (for those of you who haven't read the article, a Pavement member was saying that the Coachella organizer keeps contacting the Pavement booking agent about Pavement playing but the booking agent responds that the 'price isn't right') so what they must mean when they say the price isn't right is that a Pavement's reunion is worth a lot for the right people. AKA A major festival like Coachella is dividing its money up with Prince or Madonna or McCartney or whatever, etc, and there isn't a big sum laying around for a Pavement reunion. BUT a festival like Sasquatch, which aims for a more intimate, more dedicated crowd, could feasibly dish out the money for a Pavement reunion and use them for a headliner. That kind of programming might satisfy the same audience members who post here and complain about shallow mainstream bands attracting the wrong audience. Pavement would attract exactly the right audience. I doubt it'll happen, because as big as Pavement is they certainly aren't REM/Cure big, and the whole problem is obviously finding the right place and time for Pavement to come back so that the price matches the economic payoff. I'm sure the money's there, though, and in an ideal situation it would happen.

Pavement might not be as "big" as REM/The Cure, but if they played a single reunion show, I guarantee the sales would blow away any single night of recent tours by REM/The Cure.

I went to Sas in 2008 and 2007 and can definitely say having the wrong bands play can bring out the less than desirables. I've always thought of Sasquatch as being about peace and love and a friendly enviroment and bands like Fleet Foxes and Polyphonic Spree mirror that.
I wouldn't want to share the area with a bunch of twats rockin' out to Guns N Roses.
That said, I thought the line-up last year wasn't remotely as good as 2007 and considering how much I spent for the VIP tickets, I'm taking a pass on 2009 (unless Radiohead plays)

I don't know why, but King Khan and the Shrines seem to fit the Sasquatch! mold perfectly........ Not really sure about touring schedules in May yet, but some other bands I'd love to see are Grizzly Bear (Their new material is amazing) Fleet Foxes (Great set last year) Late Of The Pier (New band w/ lots of possible touring) Champagne Champagne (Seattle Indie/Hip-Hop group) Tom Vek M83 Wolf Parade Friendly Fires Animal Collective (Merriweather is one of the best albums I've ever heard) Mute Math (Not sure if they're working on anything new, but they are awesome live) Tapes n' Tapes Menomena Born Ruffians The Rapture
Also, for headliners I'm guessing they might try to get artists that Coachella and Bonarroo aren't having headline. I'm not a big fan of the whole Weezer/Oasis combo, but if Weezer play a Pinkerton and Blue album heavy set-list, I might forgive them for the past 9 years of terrible music. Some other names I'll guess on are My Morning Jacket A Tribe Called Quest Radiohead (I really think this could be the year........... and I say that every year about this time) Kings of Leon (No offense to the 'Quatch, but if they headlined Glastonbury. I doubt they'd be an opening act) Morrisey The Arcade Fire (Sasquatch! people seem to like them a lot) Coldplay (I wouldn't root for it, but it wouldn't surprise me) Gnarls Barkley (Never played the Gorge to my knowledge) Sigur Ros TV On The Radio Yeah Yeah Yeah's (Might be big enough to be a day one headliner) Jay-Z (Just a weird hunch)

I've enjoyed reading everyone's speculations and wish lists. I truly enjoyed Sasquatch last year and have said all along i will buy my tickets without even knowing the line-up, whereas Pemberton (ultimately not happening in 09 anyway) I would have to see the line-up to consider going back. Here is my wishlist of some realistic artists that i would like to see on the schedule in no particular order:
TV On the Radio Oasis Neil Young Franz Ferdinand Glasvegas Kaiser Chiefs Arctic Monkeys or The Last Shadow Puppets The Arcade Fire The Dandy Warhols The Raconteurs or White Stripes Polyphonic Spree Klaxons Editors New York Dolls Snow Patrol The Killers Black Mountain Kings of Leon Birds of Avalon The National Fleet Foxes Flight of the Conchords The Hives NIN Secret Machines Vampire Weekend Thievery Corporation My Morning Jacket Pearl Jam
I think this is a good balance of headliners and medium and smaller stage acts. Probably too British for some folks, but some of those artists would be welcome additions alongside the US and Canadian acts I have included. Hopefully a few of these will make an appearance. Can't wait to hear the line-up.....

You didn't hear? I thought this was common knowledge by now? Sasquatch is having a theme Saturday called, "This IS 1992." I'm not sure if they will keep the word "is" capitalized, but the lineup IS as follows: Main Stage: Pearl Jam / Queen with Paul Rodgers / House of Pain / Hammer / TC (without the L) / Spin Doctors / Arrested Development / Bobby Brown (sponsored by Coca-Cola) / Color Me Badd Wookie Stage: Boys II Men / En Vogue / Sir Mixx-A-Lot / Shabba Ranks / Mr. Big / Christopher Cross (Kris Kross canceled) / Shai / Vanessa Williams Yeti Stage: Right Said Fred / C + C Music Factory / CeCe Peniston (a back to back of C C, I say Si Si) / Sophie B. Hawkings / Eric B. & Rakim / Wreckx-N-Effect / John Secada Special acoustic sets to be held throughout the day at the three main shitters by Richard Marx, Billy Ray Cyrus, and The Heights featuring Jamie Walters. The main stage will be hosted by America's Funniest Videos staple, Bob Saget. The Wookie will be hosted by Mike Tyson (keep him away from Vanessa Williams, eh? And those gals from En Vogue, yikes), and the Wookie will be hosted by Ross Perot. They've got tee-shirts made and everything. Try doing a bit of fucking research before spouting off some some ignorant crap like that. That was pure genius!! Too funny, and I ask this with much repsect, but did you come up with this on your own? Cause it is really funny and good!! I started writing it off the top of my head, until I realized I needed some one hit wonders to cover the Yeti stage, so I enlisted the help of Google. I then just decided to go with accuracy, so the lineup is 100% comprised of bands/artist who were relevant in 1992 (same with the hosts). Glad ya'll liked it. sunday: pepper opening for 311. What? Those bands are lame, especially considering this isn't 1999.

Seems like there was some criticism of last year's lineup due to the fact so many of the bands had played previous 'Squatches. Personally, I think that's something they need to watch out for, cause it's one way for a fest to get stale in a hurry (especially for those of us who've been to virtually all of them). Therefore, I think (and hope) they avoid the Modest Mouses, Neko Cases, and Ozomatlis of the world and get some new blood to the Gorge. I look at any currently hot or established alternative / indie bands they haven't played Sasquatch in the past as prime suspects. Some of you have already mentioned a bunch of them (Dan Deacon, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand, Animal Collective, Vampire Weekend, etc..)
Other Sasquatch Newbies I'd like to see: LCD Soundystem No Age Deerhunter Girl Talk Les Savy Fav Q-Tip (always some good hip-hop, and his album last year was great) White Denim Times New Viking Pinback Of Montreal Jesus Lizard (reunion tour) Caribou
Some repeats are inevitable (and desirable), but here's to hoping the grand majority of bands will be playing their first Sasquatch.

Of Montreal would be good add, MGMT would be the perfect band for Sasquatch, Im banking on them being there. Metric, Sam Roberts (there in 2006), Girl Talk and T.V on the Radio (2006) would also be sick for this year
