Hey everyone... I have something to share with you, and I would really appreciate the read
I was telling this story to a friend of mine and they said, "You should tell that to the people who run Sasquatch and see what happens!". I figured it wouldn't solve anything, but maybe it will be good as a positive motivator for something in the future. Anywho, things have been a little crazy in my most recent attempts to make it to this year's festival festivities.
It all started February 15th, the day I was to buy my Ticket. Thinking that this was early compared to most years, I casually waited until this day when I fell into enough money to support my musical fix.... "SOLD OUT" was written on the website. No way. I checked Ticketmaster regardless, thinking that for some reason, some divine miracle, that there would be a ticket. Nope.
"It's okay", I thought to myself. There's always craigslist.....
Five weeks ago I found tickets at a reasonable price on craigslist. $400 wasn't too big of a hit as I expected to take a small hit anyways for buying them second hand. I met with the gentleman who told me his name was "Jeff White". A mustache, suit jacket, and nice shoes. He seemed like a real straight shooter. I suppose this is the time to mention that this was in Victoria, BC. Lots of people here have suit jackets and nice shoes, and mustaches are back as if Burt Reynolds never went out of style. I scooped the tickets from him and put them on my bulletin board in my room. Party. I was on my way again.
A week or so later I was surfing craigslist again to see what was up and who was liquidating their assets. Turns out some guy posted that he bought tickets from some guy in Victoria, called Ticketmaster after the fact and found out that the tickets were bogus. The fellow who sold him the tickets called Ticketmaster after and said he had lost them, got new tickets, and therefore made the old tickets void. This was also in Victoria. I called Ticketmaster right away to make sure I wasn't a sucker in this scam too and found out that I as well had become victim. Not happy. Tickets. In. Trash.
Two days ago my friend Jesse told me that he could no longer go to the festival and offered me his tickets so long as I pay him back in the summer. I more than happily obliged and took them. Finally everything was coming together! I put them in my backpack as I was at school and took off to the gym where I work. This was a late night shift, 8:30pm to 11:00pm. I left my backpack in the car and headed into work. It was about to get real ugly again.
Apparently someone that night decided to go on a string of robberies and broke into NINE cars that night in the parking lot. A friend of mine popped into the gym to say hi and had mentioned how a car she walked by had broken glass all over the ground and a window was smashed out. My immediate response was "oh wow that sucks to be him". Then she said it was a silver car. I drive a silver car. Then she said it was a Honda. I drive a Honda. Then she said there was a bongo in the backseat. That was the knife right through my heart. I had a bongo in my backseat. I made it to my car and saw that my backpack WITH MY NEW TICKETS in it was gone. Along with those tickets in my backpack was my iPod with a new Sasquatch playlist on it and all my schoolwork. Some bastard is going to go to Sasquatch now (maybe he'll get stopped at the border) and I am not. It was just not meant to be this year....
I thought I would share my story with you people in hopes that something, some fluke would happen, some sort of karma would come through for me. My friend told me there's nothing to lose and only something to gain so here I am sharing my story with you. I would do anything to get to the festival again this year. I think last year just might have been the best weekend of my life.
Thank you so much for sticking out this long read until the end. I appreciate it more that you could ever know!
