We're rolling in with a shit-ton of hula hoopers. They've been making LED hula hoops for weeks.

That's the strange thing to me-- this fest doesn't have an abundance of poi-throwers and hula-hoopers like other festivals I've seen, so I'm not sure what a bunch of North Face bedecked 20somethings are going to be doing with this music. they play dance music, there will be lots of people on drugs, people will enjoy it. they do a couple different monthly club nights around portland and it's always packed and a pretty good time. i'm not planning on seeing them at all at the festival, but they are there to provide a place for people to dance when they're in between sets and still rolling hard. no one is going to sasquatch thinking, "man i gotta catch dj anjali and the incredible kid"

It kind of flabbergasts me when I realize that people actually do things for people who are on dergs. I guess it's a byproduct of growing up in the south, but when I saw the chillout tent last year, I nearly cried. I told my partner, "In the south, they charge $500 and court fees for their chillout tents." amazing.

Saturday: I hate the fact that The Radio Dept. are on the main stage at 1:00. As much as I hate to say it, it will be near impossible to get my campsite into the venue to catch them. I agree, but it will be worth it. Stay motivated! Sunday: The Flaming Lips vs. Gayngs vs. Gold Panda/Flying Lotus. Horrible conflict, especially when you consider the Lips will roll into the start of Yeasayer as well. This one sucks. Sadly, I might have to skip the Lips altogether or skip Yeasayer and catch a 2nd half of Lips. Grrr I'm even more bummed to have Iron & Wine, The Thermals, & Washed Out at the same time on Saturday. Thermals I can see around town, but with so many other dead spots on Sun/Mon, I really hate that these are bunched. Washed Out better be worth it.

Does anyone really think I'm going to get any significant number of people to chant WRONG KID DIED during Bright Eyes? I mean, I'M going to yell it for sure but outside of the board nobody is going to get it and I'm not even relying on most of you fuckers to back me up. I mostly enjoy that you'll be watching a band you dislike in order to get the chant going.

Well this is what I am doing for the whole day, but you probably have a completely different opinion: Seattle Rock Orchestra The Globes The Head and the Heart Local Natives 1/2 set Wolf Parade J Mascis Pink Martini (wildcard pick that I think will payoff) A couple songs from The Antlers Iron and Wine Bright Eyes Last couple songs of The Glitch Mob or Robyn 1/2 of DCFC's set BASSNECTAR! Switch - as a fellow Bright Eyes fan, I'm a little saddened you have no plans to see Radio Dept, Wye Oak, or Washed Out. If Pink Martini is a wildcard, I strongly recommend Wye Oak instead - there most recent album is phenomenal. I'd be surprised if you didn't like it based on your other picks.
