I made my annual Sasquatch bars. The stove burner went out in the process so I was waiting for the stuff to come to a boil and it never did so I just used it anyway. I think it is fine. Then I ran out of brown rice syrup on the second batch and had to halve it. It turned out a bit more sticky than the first batch. I could have added more of the dry stuff but am an idiot and didn't think about it since I had already put it in a ziplock and put it away. I think they will all be delish anyway. Dry ingredients: After mixing syrup stuff and putting in pan: After cooled off, cutting, and wrapping: a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/526730_10150975683333792_522073791_12041229_706687679_n.jpg[/img]

When Stormy makes her Sasquatch energy bars, that means it is ALMOST FUCKING TIME TO GO TO SASQUATCH.
Also, they are traditionally delicious and -- with a bunch of fruits, nuts and coffee for a little kick -- they work wonders as actual energy bars without tasting like a cardboard chocolate foot like most energy bars do.

You could do that, but I think Stormy made enough to go around.

Stormy, I know you've posted the recipe a million times by now but what's in them again?

Sadly, I do not believe they are gluten free due to the rolled oats (not sure about the cereal or syrup either). They have rolled oats, crispy rice cereal, almonds, walnuts, peanuts, a mixture of dried apricots, cherries, blueberries, and cranberries, brown rice syrup, sugar, coffee, vanilla, and a bit of salt.

Nope, definitely not gluten free, but sometimes I'm okay with oats and rye as technically I'm just allergic to wheat. And the gluten relief pills I picked up have made the occasional indulgence okay, so I might have to try a bite if there's some to share

My whole house smells like marinated meat. Tomorrow it will smell like bananas. This dehydrator is getting a workout. Drunken gummis are also marinating in the fridge.

Between you and kymess, I'm really hoping to track me down some of these booze gummy things. I've never even heard of those before yesterday.

I started mine Saturday night. Here's hoping they absorb through in time. Guess I could always pack em in the cooler to give them a little extra time. If I see you and still have some, you're definitely welcome to them.

Your gummies should absorb in time. My test run only took two days to fully absorb but I let them sit for three and then put them in the freezer for a day to attempt to make them less slimy (I knew the alcohol wouldn't freeze, but I thought it couldn't hurt either way). Just be sure to stir them a couple times a day so there is a more even absorption level.

I've definitely been stirring. At this point, they're still hard (read: actual gummy bear consistency) in the middle. We'll see what happens. Did the freezer do anything really? I've never tried that.

Hmmm, something tells me yours aren't working properly. My gummies had soaked up over half of the alcohol within 6 hours. Leaving them for extra days just made sure there was absolutely nothing left in the bowl. Did you use gummies that were rather soft to start with or the kind that are kinda waxy? Also, apparently you're not supposed to marinate them in a plastic container (all the online sources said it does weird stuff to vodka, and even though I used gin and rum I figured I'd use glass anyway) and make sure they're covered in the fridge. have they changed in size at all? Mine doubled, so if they're even a little larger you know they've soaked something up.
The freezer actually did help a bit. They were quite sticky and slimy but the freezer made them easier to handle, for awhile at least. I discovered the sliminess returns once they've been out of the fridge for a few hours, so you'll want to keep them in your cooler regardless.

One batch still has enough to share.

My suggestion is to read the multiple threads we have on food, including the one you posted in. We get off topic but it is solid information.
