I'm excited about this! There are two stores on my street participating and the radio station I work for is really heavily promoting this. Can't believe I didn't hear about it until this year. I can't wait to stock up! Is one of those two stores Stedeford's, by any chance?

What stores are you planning on going to? Vancouver has so many great ones. Probably Neptoon and Redcat. They are in close proximity to one another and seem to have there shit together for the event. If neither of those stores have the deftones covers record I'm looking for I may head down to Scratch as well.

Unfortunately probably missed out on all the good stuff this morning thanks to work, but I'm still looking forward to hitting up the store here. They're having super sales on everything, plus free hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, sno cones, jump castle and... massages.

went and saw Low do a short in store earlier. I don't really care much about exclusive 7 inches or anything so it really just felt like black friday for music snobs. Still, it was nice to see Low...

Well, I'm glad I had the foresight to get the colored vinyl (limited to 1,000) Heady Nuggs set from the Flaming Lips website this morning at 2AM - they were already sold out of the black vinyl version at my local record store. $129.99, not bad! The Lips' decision to feature the colored vinyl exclusively on their website kinda defeats the purpose of Record Store Day, but whatever.

My winnings for today. I didn't do my research to see if we'd be getting anything special, because I knew I wouldn't get up early enough, but I did spend too much money. And my record player decided to crap out on me today. I need my tax refund.

Got to my local record store too late for any Record Store Day stuff but I ended up picking up vinyl for cheap anyways:
Hüsker Dü - Warehouse: Songs and Stories Radiohead - Pablo Honey (180 gram Remaster) Supersuckers - How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World (FUCK YEAH!) Drive-By Truckers - Gangstabilly Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska The Monks - Bad Habits The Jim Carroll Band - Catholic Boy
Disappointed that I missed the Foo Fighters and Grinderman releases today.

The Lips' decision to feature the colored vinyl exclusively on their website kinda defeats the purpose of Record Store Day, but whatever. I totally agree. But it is really cool. I love colored vinyl so much but am happy I got to really support the record store this way. The guys behind the counter at Jackpot seemed so thrilled that there was so much business happening. It was a really fun experience even though it was kind of crazy.

If one were to use the model of RSD records already re-sold on eBay, the return on investment with the records I've bought on RSD is exponential.
