I don't remember his exact words, but basically he said, Elliot was a good friend of the Lips, and that they wrote the song for him. All I really remember is that it felt like he was insinuating that he didn't kill himself and that there may have been some foul play, but I may have taken that the wrong way I guess. Yeah he did imply that he will never be convinced he killed himself or something along those lines. I liked that the story sort of became inspirational in the sense that it was telling everyone not to wait to be rescued and whatnot, but it was still pretty much pointless. On Friday, the cake was unnecessary and annoying. On SUNDAY, the cake was unforgiveable and entirely unwelcome. THISSSSSSSSSSS The cake was fine by me on friday. It was while they were setting up for the foos, the foos still went on pretty much on time and nothing was held up. During the lips is I was openly angry. I yelled "we did this already!" as loud as I could (being sunday my voice was mostly gone) and did my best to make the cake explode with my mind.

Yes, I was highly amped for this show and subsequently disappointed by the performance. Of course the music sounded great, but I'm surprised that no one has yet stated the obvious reason for the extra talking/time wasting: they were really fucking high! MDMA, seriously. I thought it was all pretty great until Waiting For Superman when he started to retreat back into his own mind, thinking about whatever sad things had caused him to write the song and he began to lose his voice and place and the lyrics. It was a bit uncomfortable and awkward because he knew he was busted. Still, I sang out every word as best I could and I feel like that kind of helped him. Was totally bummed not to hear the Gash. And Modest Mouse played FOREVERRRRRR so I really wish they had been given about 15 more minutes to finish the set. grr. However, I did enjoy their experimentation with sound in the form of a mysterious Victrola-type of cone mounted on top of the sound booth which Steven used to tweak some frequencies during setup and create a shifting wall of sound. That was fucking crazy. I was also highly annoyed at the pit action during Flogging Molly. Definitely wasn't what I wanted while coming up on zhrooms. I launched a roll of toilet paper tho, and almost hit their singer (tho not intentionally) I could not WAIT for those guys to get off the stage. Anyway, people were noting that the show was not transformational. The lack of confetti and balloons certainly detracted from it (i suspect they were asked to not use so much for the sake of the wind blowing that shit all over mother nature) HOWEVER! I did take a life lesson away from the show, and that is a reminder that things in life don't always live up to the expectations that you may create in your mind, and also that if you take too much drugs you might not finish the tasks which you set out to complete. Also, I touched the bubble two times, I was the first one to call out for cake and miraculously got a lick of cake from a girls' hand, despite the fact I was maybe 12-15 bodies from the stage. I can't wait to see the Flaming Lips again! <3 <3 <3 They all had dancer passes, I saw them backstage. I met these people! lol, the asian girl was SOOO fucked up by the time they got out onstage.

Thing with the Lips set was this. When they were PLAYING, they sounded and looked as amazing as they ever have. When Wayne was talking, it was the most annoying Wayne has ever been... And he's been progressively more annoying each time I've seen them over the years. But I really do feel like that fucker Snacks was to blame for that. On Friday, the cake was unnecessary and annoying. On SUNDAY, the cake was unforgiveable and entirely unwelcome. I got the feeling that when Snacks started planning his BIG TENTH YEAR, his very first thought was, "I'm going to get a fucking Sasquatch cake from Ace of Cakes and have Wayne Coyne throw the head into the audience." And he fucking clung to that at the expense of what could have been one of the greatest sets of the weekend. 100% agree with this.

This was my first Lips show but I really cant help to agree with this as well. Although I have to admit that some of the best visuals I saw all weekend was at their set (excluding the pink elephant at Bassnectar) when they were playing music and not just reminiscing. But I really dont have much to base this set off of other than videos I have seen of them performing online. I definitely plan on seeing them perform again, and hopefully getting a full set.

Despite their disappointing set, I'm going to see them again at the Puyallup Fair and got golden circle tickets, 2nd row I wonder if Wayne will come out in the space ball at a reserved seating show. It seems like there might not be enough crowd density to keep him from tumbling to the ground...

Ya, he seemed WAY too sober for Sasquatch. Maybe that was the biggest problem...

Just because he dedicates a song to people on molly doesn't mean he is on it.

Well duh, just seems strange that he would be that into it then. Oh well Wayne is pretty nuts no one knows why he does anything

Wayne doesn't do drugs anymore. Hasn't for a LONG time. Then why at Hangout fest did he dedicate a song to anyone on molly? Wayne talks about that shit at every show. He knows that a certain percentage of his audience is going to be on whatever the kids are doing these days; he's all about making an experience for those people, but he's said since the late 90's that he doesn't smoke weed or do any drugs anymore.
