I've been trying hard to get into Flying Lotus and I just can't...
Can we officially put the COMAS label on this guy instead of Wilco?

Can we officially put the COMAS label on this guy instead of Wilco? Yes. Most boring shit ever.

I thought LA was a more accessible album than his newest, but in any sense I like the vibe of his music. Almost like a mix of Thievery Corp and Madlib.

Still love Flying Lotus. I'm excited to be alone at his set.

It'll be the anti-glowstick party. Silence and darkness for the duration of the set.

If there are no conflicts I would really like to check out Flying Lotus. I only find myself listening to him as background music, though, for which it is perfect. I'm not overly excited for the live show at Sasquatch, and wouldn't be bummed if scheduling didn't allow me to see it.

I'm still down with seeing him live. I just didn't like Cosmogramma, and don't understand the hype behind it. I can't remember where or when, but I believe I've read/heard a couple people say he puts on a great show. I was excited to see him on the lineup.

One of the things I really love about Pitchfork is their 5-10-15-20 column; it's fascinating. I've always kind of thought that something similar would make for a pretty interesting thread around here.
They have a couple of really well-written columns, actually. Their 'Poptimist' and 'Why We Fight' articles are very insightful. It's a shame that the bulk of their reviews are douchey knee-jerk reactions.

5-10-15-20 was an inspired idea, and the Poptimist columns can be fascinating. Every now and then they have a good feature, too, like the history of wee one that got me into twee four or five years ago.

Ok so 1983 and Los Angeles are MUCH better albums than Cosmogramma. Still not sure if I would listen to them on a consistent basis, but they at least have some enjoyable moments.
