Since Chud pooped this I figured I'd share a not very interesting story
I'm trying to find some tickets to go see Frightened Rabbit here tomorrow. They're booked at some where tiny venue and tickets sold out pretty much immediately when they went on sale this summer. A lot of people are trying to sell them for 3 times face value (15 bucks) and I'm really only willing to pay 20 bucks. This one ad in particular caught my eye because the ad said "selling 2 tickets for face value ($67)." I was so confused that I figured I'd send an email and ask wtf they were talking about. I got a response pretty quickly and along with it was an attached invoice from some stubhub knockoff. I feel slightly better knowing she's not being completely disingenuous about the price of the tickets but do people seriously not know what face value actually means?
The best part is she's probably going to sell me the tickets for 40 bucks tomorrow anyway.
In 2011 tickets sold out pretty fast (though not in a day) and everyone went nuts and paid hundreds over asking. Then, as the fest got closer prices slowly went down to the point where people were selling them for face value or in some cases even less.
And because everyone loves proof here are what coachella ticket prices on stubhub looked like last year. Note how they just keep getting lower and lower and eventually some people got tickets for less than face value.
